Hi ladies, I have sort of an off-the-wall question. Does anyone know if it's possible to rent regular yellow school buses personally? Meaning, not affiliated with a school or anything. Basically I'm looking for the cheapest way possible to transport the drunkies home from my wedding I'd really only need it for an hour, going from the reception to one drop-off location. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Re: School Bus Rental
I used to hire school buses for events at a University I worked for (I know it's for a school but not really). In PA where I worked it would cost a few hundred, but depending on the time and day of the week it can be tough for them to find drivers so they may refuse the service. Sometimes you can call the bus company directly, sometimes you have to subcontract through another transportation company. I wouldn't tell them it's for a wedding when you first ask, just ask about hiring a school bus

Re: School Bus Rental
My friend went to wedding that had that. She said they transferred everybody via bus & the guests loved it. It brought back so many memories for everyone.

Re: School Bus Rental
Yes! I did it, and it was great! We went through Huntington Coach. The bus was clean and air-conditioned. Since DH and i are both teachers, we made laminated 'bus passes' that had the times of departure and return to the hotel! We did run into an issue...I guess my DH never clarified that we were taking the bus back to the hotel with the guests and they left us there :(! I would still recommend the company, just be clear with them, and be sure that someone else (brother, parent, friend) knows the plan, too!
