The reason they closed is b/c other schools are and we have some kids with seizure disorders who keep have seizures. I am about to pass out too! This is my prep then my lunch so I have to free periods then go home!

Re: School is closing!
I agree...it is way too hot to be indoors...I still don't understand why so many schools don't have air conditioners...I heard that it has to do with the structure of old buildings but I still don't get it

Our school is closing early too. We are getting out at 1:50 instead of 2:40. Not a lot but it's something!
Luckily I have supervision right now in a room that is air conditioned.
I'm going to hate 1 more hour in my steamy classroom!

I wish our office would close early !!! We have air conditioning though - besides it is way too hot outside to go and do anything outside here on LI

Wow you are lucky! We don't even have fans in our school and our district NEVER closes. We've had ONE snow day in the past three years!

Re: School is closing!
Lucky you! Our school would never close for that. We have no air conditioning and aren't even allowed to have fans. However, at the end of the day, there was a note from the superintendent telling us he would lift the bans on fans. So that means we can go out and buy them ourselves!!! I'm teaching in a new wing of the school that even has the ducts built in for AC, but the district wouldn't have them installed!
