Scrapbooking question

We have LOTS of Hawaii pictures that I want to put into a book. When we were in Hawaii we saw a book that had sand on the front (covered the whole front of the book) with black writing in gel (maybe) that said Hawaii.

I want to try to do something like this. I brought back a bag of sand. SOOOOO, how do I (or can I) glue this to the front of a scrapbook w/o it all coming off?

Does anyone have any good ideas on how to do this?

Re: Scrapbooking question

I have seen people use sandpaper as sand. I think the sand will come off after time. Get some heavy sandpaper and see if that works. I do not know if tacky glue will be strong enough to hold the glue for a long time.

Hope that helps

Re: Scrapbooking question

Wacky Tacky tape is supposed to be strong enough to hold heavier embellishments like beads and remain clear on your pages, maybe it will work on the sand too.

Here's a link to Wacky Tacky Tape at Buttons Galore

Although Lisa's sandpaper idea would be less mess

Or you could make one huge gigantic shaker box for the whole cover!

Re: Scrapbooking question

you can't run sand through a Xyron...you will ruin it.

What about running the sandpaper thru it?

Or get a piece of sandpaper and make a photo of it- you know those photomakers?

Re: Scrapbooking question

Could you laminate the front of the piece of sand paper and make the back a sticker and stick that the the cover of the album?

Re: Scrapbooking question

I think this is the most heated conversation on the crafts board.
