Hi there, My husband and I are seriously considering buying a house in the Sea Cliff area. We love the area but are a bit concerned about the commute. Anyone familiar with this area or know people who commute? We have the schedule and did it once but our worry is there is only 1 express train an hour. Do people drive to other lines like to hicksville etc.? Any input would be very helpful. Thanks!!

Re: Sea Cliff Commute
Sea Cliff is a great neighborhood but unfortunately the commute is not so good. The drive to the LIE alone takes a good 15-20 min.

Re: Sea Cliff Commute
I have lived in glen cove and actually just purchased a home in glen head and they are both the same train line at sea cliff. You have to switch at Jamaica. I believe there is only one train in the AM that goes direct and one train in the PM that goes home direct. In regards the driving to another station finding a parking spot is not so easy.
As for Sea Cliff it is a great neighborhood and great school district. It really is a great town.

Re: Sea Cliff Commute
I grew up in Old Brookville and went to North Shore School District which Sea Cliffers attend. The commute is not good. You can drive to the Manhasset line where the commute is better but you would have to leave 15-20 minutes to do that and rent a spot (ranges between $200-300 if you can find one). The Oyster Bay line is known to be the worst....old trains, very slow, change at Jamaica, lots of delays.

Re: Sea Cliff Commute
I currently commute from East Williston which is the first stop off the main line going towards Oyster Bay.
Evening commute- there is a 6:16 from Penn that goes direct, you have to change in Jamaica for other trains. We find a usual 2-7 minute delay in the evenings. That train RARELY gets cancelled.
AM commute, we take a 7:26 that goes straight to Penn (but that starts in E. Will so not available in Seacliff) or a 7:48 (change in Jamaica to Penn) or 8:16 (go to hunter's point and take 7 to Manhattan) Usually these trains are on time.
As for other stations I think some people from Seacliff drive to Syosset, Manhasset, Port Wash. Parking can be tough.
I know that the Village of Williston Park (not East Willsiton Village) sells yearly parking passes to people who aren't village residents. I think it's like 3-400 a year for the sticker. The close lots usually fill up by about 8am. The lot about a block away always has spots.
