I am contemplating using my mother's wedding dress. Alterations would need to be done. Does anyone know/have recommendations of where I can go? These would be major alterations. Not just hemming etc. I'm scared that I'll pick the wrong person and they will ruin the dress. TIA!

Re: Seamstress
I know someone who's done this before...they were actually on Bravo for changing the mother of the brides dress into a totally different looking dress for the bride. She has a really tiny store in Elmsford NY (westchester). If you're interested FM me and I'll get her info. I'm using her for alterations and she's really great.

I love the woman I'm using. She has worked at Kleinfeld for 26 years and does extra work on the side at home. FM me for her info.

Thanks for all the info ladies. My mom's dress was put together by 6 italian ladies and I'm hoping someone can alter it without ruining it.

GinaZ redid her grandmothers dress I think. Try asking her who she used. It came out amazing.
