Searching for a dress...

Original post by Linds78

Does anyone have a suggestion of where I can go to try on a variety of dresses to try to figure out what style I want. I haven't been dress shopping yet and do not want to go somewhere that will make me feel rushed to try on dresses in a set period of time or will try to pressure me into buying a dress that day. I would like to go to a store where the salespeople are helpful and don't leave you to fend for yourself.

Any suggestions???

I just went dress shopping on Sunday. I planned on going to Village Bridal in Babylon and Bridal Elegance in Huntington. My plan was to go to Village Bridal in the morning and then go to Bridal Elegance after because at Bridal Elegance, you do not need an appointment. So we started at Village Bridal. The sales lady picked dresses for me based on my pictures that I brought in, and my family and I picked dresses too to try on. I ended up trying on every bridal style there is to see the options on my body. She was nice and pretty patient. I actually ended up picking my dress, so I didn't end up going to the other store. I ended up picking a lace A line in gold...I fell in love and figured as much as I love love the experience, why keep looking.

I know the Bridal Salon, and stores like that tend to have really expensive dresses, so I wanted to stay away from there...the last thing I wanted to do was fall in love with a dress that was $5,000, ya know.

You should try those stores. Both had good reviews, even though I do not have the experience of the other store.

I went to Bridal Elegance. My FSIL got her dress there last year. Phyliss has been so helpful that even if I don't find my dress there she's willing to order it for me and get me a slightly better price. Plus I trust them because it was only ayear ago that they did a fabulous job on my FSIL's dress.

I highly recommend Fantasia in Rocky Point. I loved them so much that I drove nearly 1.5 hours each way every time that I went there for fittings and such.
