Does anyone have a suggestion of where I can go to try on a variety of dresses to try to figure out what style I want. I haven't been dress shopping yet and do not want to go somewhere that will make me feel rushed to try on dresses in a set period of time or will try to pressure me into buying a dress that day. I would like to go to a store where the salespeople are helpful and don't leave you to fend for yourself.
Any suggestions???

I'm going to Princess Bridals in Farmingdale on Sunday. The man I talked to on the phone was very helpful and I think I'll have a nice experience. I'll let you know how it goes

Although I didn't end up buying from either, I had great experiences at the Wedding Salon of Manhasset as well as Fantasia Bridal. Both let me try on as many dresses as I wanted and did NOT pressure me at all!

Re: Searching for a dress...
I went to Lillettes in Bellmore and I LOVED them!! I suggest going during the week if you can because the weekend is always busy at any bridal place and you just wont get the same attention as during the week. That was only my experience and i went to 3 places. I went to Princess Bridals in Farmingdale which was a nightmare and The Bridal Suite in Bayshore which was also pretty awful. The lady put me in the room and said, ok, show me when you're dressed....I was like...'ummm, can you help me??' How does someone put on a wedding dress by herself? AND she smelled like an ashtray...ick!! Lillettes was SOO awesome, I dont have one complaint about them...and they have great prices. K, I rambled...HTH.

Re: Searching for a dress...
i went to davids bridal on a week night (im not sure about all of them but the massapequa is open till 10) when they werent busy and i tried on atleast 1 dress for each silhouette out there. i knew i had no intentions of buying that day because i didnt have my mom with me but atleast with davids they have a multitude of sizes in every shape and you can easily rule out the shapes that dont flatter you, plus being that it was like a tuesday night me and my sister were basically the only ones in the store so no one rushed us at all.

I went to a bumnch of stored to try on gowns and ordered it for ******* (saves a ton)! I went to davids bridal to try on dresses and that's one of the places I didn't feel pressured. They are also coming out with a line from vera wang which I here is amazing and looks just like her crazy expensive stuff!!

Re: Searching for a dress...
I just went dress shopping on Sunday. I planned on going to Village Bridal in Babylon and Bridal Elegance in Huntington. My plan was to go to Village Bridal in the morning and then go to Bridal Elegance after because at Bridal Elegance, you do not need an appointment. So we started at Village Bridal. The sales lady picked dresses for me based on my pictures that I brought in, and my family and I picked dresses too to try on. I ended up trying on every bridal style there is to see the options on my body. She was nice and pretty patient. I actually ended up picking my dress, so I didn't end up going to the other store. I ended up picking a lace A line in gold...I fell in love and figured as much as I love love the experience, why keep looking.
I know the Bridal Salon, and stores like that tend to have really expensive dresses, so I wanted to stay away from there...the last thing I wanted to do was fall in love with a dress that was $5,000, ya know.
You should try those stores. Both had good reviews, even though I do not have the experience of the other store.

Check out some of the older threads about Princess Bridals on LIW before you order a dress from them. I've seen some girls on here who had pretty significant issues with them.
Oo thanks for the tip
