Re: Season to be wed

I visited 4 places and was given the same price for October, november and december at all of them. I chose the day after thanksgiving because it is my favorate holiday and also because then people still have the whole weekend to enjoy themselves. most people have off on the day after thanksgiving.

I think you should definately go with a time of year that you love. I hate the summer, so that didn't even cross my mind. I either wanted a fall or winter, and fall won!

FH didn't want winter and I didn't want summer. So it was down to fall and spring.

We picked April, because I wanted nice weather, but since I always work in accounting, I wanted it after April 15th. (That and our income tax checks should be in to pay for the rest of the wedding!!)

I originally wanted October, and found that it's turning into a popular month for weddings, so now they jack up the prices.

We were actually able to get some winter pricing for April, even though we have the last day of the month, which is fine by me, because hopefully we'll have nice weather for our outdoor pics!! (According to farmers almanac, we should have about 67 degrees!)

I got married outside Nov 6, 2004. Here's a pic.

But we felt it was too cold outside for the CH. Peabody's was outside Oct. 1 and the CH outside was perfect, but we went to a wedding at the end of Sept. with outside ceremony where everyone was freezing. It's hard to predict!

Here's another outside shot:

If you REALLY want an outdoor ceremony/CH then I would count out April and November. Now of course, you could get lucky and have a warm day, but I wouldn't count on that. I would say that July may be too hot. So I would go with either June or October.
Personally, I was an October bride and had beautiful weather. It was about 70 degrees and we were able to have our ceremony and CH outdoors.

For your budget Nov. would be a good one. Its even cheaper than October. It really depends on what kind of wedding you want though... If you want a beach wedding do July or June (mind you June is more than July because its very popular, also be aware that many guest won't be able to come due to gradutions.) If want a spring wedding then do Apirl, it may be cheaper but it may not. It depends on where you look. If you want an out side wedding, remember 'April showers.' I picked October 6th because its on a friday and Colmbus day weekend. So althought my guest will have to take a day or half a day off work they'll get a four day weekend rather than a three day!

I'll be hoping for you, even though we'll be in FL celebrating our 1 year! Last Oct and Nov were beautiful, and Sept was unseasonably cold! You never know!

I know that May is not on your list but you should consider it. It is such a pretty month right between spring and summer. The flowers are blooming and the weather is usually just right. Also if you book pre-Memorial day you can get great rates with halls.

We're doing July - 1) Love the warmth (hate the cold); 2) July is the month with the least rain (we're praying we don't get any)

Con - some may say it is too hot. we are doing an outside ceremony on the water (hoping to have some cool breezes) and supplying the guests with hand fans to help them stay cool

Pro for June besides weather, is you have your choice for flowers everything is in season and in bloom.

Re: Season to be wed

Con for Oct is more in terms of honeymoon. You're still on the outer edge of Hurricane season, depends on where you think you'll want to go. But that aside I love fall, it's my favorite season
