seasons and cocktail attire

Can the beginning of March still be considered a winter theme for an eng. party?

Also if we are having it at a catering hall, and i am going to be wearing a short dress (cocktailish) what should FH and the men wear? he wants to wear khakis and he started telling people that-

Because its at night with a dj etc, i think he should at least be wearing black pants and a collared shirt. Right?

so my other question really is what is cocktail attire for men?

i think khakis and a collared shirt are ok... even for a night affair... especially if youre wearing a short cocktail dress

as for the winter theme... thats totally a personal choice... march is still winter so theres no reason why you cant...

i think since you are going with 'winter' theme, i would prefer the guys in dark pants
