Hi girls. I need your advice. DO you think I have to put spouses of the bridal party at the same table. I originally wanted to do it that way, but then I have to break it up to two tables of 8 each (there are 16 people) and I get charged extra for only having 8 at a table. The other things is my family is large and Mikes is smaller. So I figured if we put an extra table on his side for the bridal party it would even out the room better (I have 5 tables on my side he only has 3 so with the bridal table it would be 5 and 4, much better). What do you girls think?? Please help! Getting married in 24 days! :-)

Seating Arrangements - help!
Just my opinion, but I think it would be wierd to put the bridal party at a different table than their spouses/dates. They are guests of your wedding together. Why shouldn't they sit together? Is it a normal thing to separate them? I just think it's wierd.

I'm being completely honest with you when I tell you that the times I was in a bridal party and not seated with my guest, I HATED it (and so did my boyfriends at the time). I just felt like, what was the point of bringing them then. I do understand your situation - do you need to have 10 at a table? If so, and if you have readers, perhaps you can seat one with their spouse at one table, and one with their guest at the other. Then each table will have 10. Good luck, whatever you decide...

I hear people do it both ways. It just is much easier and the way I am figuring it, it is only to eat. Most of the time, people will be up dancing. Hmmm. Or I can put the bridal party and their spouses together but then I have to also add other people to fill the table up which I think will be more wierd.

Will the spouses and bridal party members be comfortable sitting alone? Do they know a lot of people? If thats the case I could see doing it otherwise I would not.

Well yes, the spouses will all know people. They are all husbands/boyfriends or girlfriends of bridal party people who also have family there. So.... I don't know what to do! ARRGHHH!

We are seating our groomsmen and dates all at one table and then another of my bridesmaids.
I hated my FI's cousins wedding b/c he sat at the head table and they sat me back by the bar (which was nice... and it was ok.. b/c I was at the 'guest' table!)
But for me it wasen't as bad b/c it was my future family and later they pulled me to a seat that a family member who was a no show was supposed to be at.
I would sit your party with your date.

I think bridal party memebers should sit with their spouse/date. Have you ever been to a wedding wear your significant other was in the wedding party and you knew like no one. You definitely dont want to sit alone then. And that is not usually the case. But you can mix up the grooms men and bridesmaid, I dont think they would mind that, even mix the family (people in bridal party).
Good Luck

I have been to several weddings with my husband where the bridal party sat at a deus table and I had to sit without him and I really didn't like it. I made sure my bridal party all sat with their dates. We had two tables as well.
If you have other friends as guests who know the bridal party members you can have one of those couples or a few singles fill out the rest of your table so you are not charged for having only 8.
I also went to a wedding where I sat at the bridal party table because I was alone and they were mostly my friends anyway. That made me much more comfortable.

Yeah maybe that is the best thing to do then. Put people I am really close to (but who were not able to be in my wedding party) to fill in the seats. Ok, I guess the responses are unamimous! Thanks girls!

GOOD LUCK! Get excited and have fun!!! Always remember to have fun -- and by the day or two before the wedding -- just start to let things go -- at that point you can't have much control over it - so just enjoy yourself! Congratulations.

24 Days is right around the corner! I am still 6 long months away.....good luck with everything! Keep us updated! (and I am glad you are seating them together. I was in one and my poor FI sat all by himself. It was terrible not to have him by my side to gossip with!!!!)

To All
Thanks so much once again. I see your point but I was getting frustrated! Any how, I just talked to the hall and they told me not to worry about having only 8 at a table. They said no problem. So, now I am definitely going to sit all bridal party members with their guests/husbands. My bridal party owes you all a BIG THANKS, and so do I! :-)

By the way...
Are most people putting Bridal party together with other bridal party members or having bridal party scattered at different tables of where they would sit if they were not in bridal party?

To answer Cindi's question...
I am scattering the bridal party, to put them with the groups they would enjoy sitting with the most. For example, my brother (a groomsman) and his girlfriend will sit with family friends that he grew up with, instead of my buddies from college (bridesmaids) that he barely knows. The way I see it, spliting the bridal party lets them have a better time -- and allows more guests to feel 'honored' as there will be a bridal party member at their table. Thats what seems best for my situation! :-)

Seating Arrangements - help!
At my wedding my husband and i had our own table & i just sat friends their with friends and with their spouse/date. The bridal party didnt sit together at all (unless they were in the same circle of friends) For instance, my cousin was in my party but she didn't know my other friends very well and i know she would have a better time sitting with her family (and her fiance). Also my friend from HS was in my party and i sat her with my HS friend table - which had other HS friends who were not in my party.
I was once in a party where the bride sat me at a dais without my date and it was really uncomfortable for him and i wound up havign to go between the two tables.
I say do whatever your guests would want you to do.
