Do what I did - do the seating chart & don't let ANYONE see it Yes, mine's already done - I have my guest list so I figure I can do most of it and maybe make some adjustments depending if people don't come

if only...i have that 'control freak' FFIL remember? he saw that my dad was at a table of non-relatives (on purpose...cause no one fromhis family is coming and he WILL make snide remarks all day so why put him with FAMILY?? i put him at a table with someone that no one likes really as well....) anyway...the table number happens to be 1 and FFIL assumed this meant priority.

remember, table 21 is next to table 4...

I feel your pain! Mom made very sure that her table was #1. I said, why shouldn't MY table be #1? Just to piss her off.

And she's also of the opinion that the most important people are the ones closest to the bride and groom.

How many tables do you have anyway??

Re: seating chart hades

we have 18 tables. table 1 couldn't be further from us yet FFIL thinks that my dad and the family friends i stuck him with (b/c i won't stick him with family) is inappropriate b/c of the friends...not really cause of my dad....whatever...i'm just going to ask the SC if we can PRETEND it's table 7 (an unused table) but his staff will know it's table1.

so lame. i feel like a jerk for even bothering my MD over this...but i will...

It will work out. Wow, you are almost married. I love your dress by the way.

Re: seating chart hades

OMG...the man wants me to murder him...so I email FFIL and tell him I can change table 1 to table 7 so it's not table 1 and he doesn't have to think it has special meaning.... ....so he emails me back to say that wasn't a change he wanted and that no one at that table can be there.. LAST WEEK I emailed him and FH and said 'On Sunday, we are sitting down to do this all at once together. Let me know what time.' Well, the 2 of them decided that was dumb and insisted on doing it in parts and of course, NOT COMMUNICATING a thing to me....so now that I'm literally down to the wire and need to sort out items for each table based on personalized name tags, I can't do it because he has issues with the tables.

seriously, can't stand this kind of BS

This is what happens when men get involved in planning!

I say tell them that they have one more change they are allowed and then you take over and they have to accept whatever you do. So they better make that one change a doozy.

Sorry hon, I'm sure this isn't what you envisioned a week before your wedding. I hope it works out!

This was the hardest part of the entire planning process, IMO...

Re: seating chart hades

I'm ready to just say screw it and listen with my eyes glazed over and then do it my way anyway...he has issues b/c i put a table of non-family next to the dancefloor...well, it has my dad at it...so apparently my dad shouldn't sit with them? well excuse me, but he would be terribly uncomfortable with my mom, FIL's table is FULL, he literally might strangle the one grandmother's 2nd husband so that table is out (and FULL) and her ex-husband has the SWEEEEEEEEETEST brother and well, my dad would ruin his day. i'm not sticking the man with a single relative, i'm just not.

That's funny! Your mom would HATE my reception hall. There are NO tables next to the bride and groom.

Re: seating chart hades

Put your foot down on your dad's table - he's your dad and if he's at a table, it should be on the dancefloor (if that's where you want him) irrespective of who else is at his table. FIL also caused some problems for me too and was so thick about the whole thing. VERY frustrating.
