Seating Chart or Place Cards

Seating Chart or Place Cards

Just curious what everyone is doing. I prefer to DIY a seating chart, because I think that most people will either leave the place card holders on the table after the wedding or trash them once they get home, and it would be a total waste of money to even buy the holders. What does everyone think?

I think it depends..I was going to do the chart until a BM told us that most people will look before CH or at the start and then have to look again so it can cause traffic...also you have to print it a bit large for everyone to read

We are just doing placecards (no holders)

The RH provides cards, so I will do them.

I am doing a seating chart (DIY). #1) I just like the idea of it. #2) It saves money on paper. #3) I just feel it's easier for the guests to look up their names.

The only think about the seating chart is that I don't want to have to worry about it last minute. If there is a last minute add on its a lot easier to write out a seating card

my RH does a seating chart for us. if we want to the placecards we have to do them ourselves. so i'm just doing the seating chart. lol.

however, i think letting guests sit where ever they want is a very bad i dea. every wedding i have gone to that was like this, and from what people tell me, it is always a mess. people sit with their friends and then there aren't enough chairs or people feel left out. people also don't know that they can sit where they want and it causes a commotion
