Seating Chart Question

I have to start my seating chart this week. How did you ladies go about starting yours. I can see myself getting very overwhelmed by this task.

Any suggestions?

Use the seating chart tool on LIW! It's so easy. You have to add all your guests into the 'Wedding Guests' section, but then you can just put people at tables via a drop down menu in the 'Seating Chart' section. It's so easy to move people around, etc. I love it!

Re: Seating Chart Question

I did it on excel. I created a spreadsheet with all the table numbers and the amount of people per table. Then I was able to group the people that I wanted to sit together together. As I received the last couple of RSVP's I was able to update the seating chart or move people around just by copying and pasting.

sounds like what im doing.

u can also make a diagram of the tables and then names on sticky tabs...then just move them around if u need a real visual (and want to get an idea of the locations of the tables in reference to things)...but im always in excel...so that way works for me.

pencil paper and a very large eraser lol ...and do it yourself first then ask FH for his advice....I was kind of lucky becuase we invited different cliques of people and they each ended up getting theri own table

index cards. Took my final guest list and then added people to index cards to make up tables.

Then laid them out according to the floor plan the hall gave us.

I did it this way. It was great. I added my guests as they rsvp'd so i did not get behind.

I started with the seating chart here but then had to change due to the odd numbers we used. I simply set up an excel chart and that worked best. I could email it to my mom and she would review it then send it back to me.

I armed myself with a bottle of wine. Seriously. I only drank one glass because it wasn't as bad as I expected. lol: We just started by grouping who we knew we were going to seat together but I do like the seating chart planner on liw. Good luck!:

I did the same thing...it was so much easier i had to constantly move ppl around and this was so easy to do just cut and paste.

Good Luck because you may loose your mind after a while, but once your done its a huge relief.

I second this!!!! I just finished doing the seating chart about 5 minutes ago using this tool!

What I did was place 'my people' into odd tables, and had FH's mom place 'their people' into even tables. We have a very small family on my side, so I asked my parents who they'd want to sit at their table, and when I received their list, I just filtered everyone else that makes sense into tables. I tried to keep families together, but split others where the generations made sense...... in other words, my sisters are sitting with friends their age, and those friends are the children of my parents' friends. Same with FH's brother and friends. I kept a few 'adult' tables with older guests so hopefully they have something in common to talk about, and put a table of my college friends and school friends together since everyone's the same age and some know each other.

It wasn't easy, but I took a paper, drew lines across to split it into 10 boxes, and started w/ the obvious, 1 table for my parents, 1 for FH's parents. Then 1 table for my sisters, 1 for his brother. That was 4 tables so far to fill up. Then went on from there, using the 'Seating Chart' tool on LIW which was very easy to use.

Hope this makes sense!

I'm going to be laying out my escort cards now, placing in all the missing table numbers..... hopefully will get them done tonight and press PRINT!!!

index cards! they are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and you can move them around. Some people are easier then others... thankfully I just have to do mine and FH and my parents since they don't have many and my family is small.... and then my MIL did theirs (and well we wouldn't have known who to put where) it worked out pretty well... took a bunch of moving with the cards to get it the way we like it. I recommend them.

Re: Seating Chart Question

I wrote them out and then I actually did a powerpoint thing so I had a different slide for each table...haha I don't know how that got started but it really worked for me. It was easy to remove and add people.

Re: Seating Chart Question

I had my mom do my side of the family and MIL do DH's side of the family, and DH and I did our friends--it worked out great and they were totally on board--that way people couldn't complain to me My mom and MIL made little slips of paper with everyone's names on their lists and moved them around to different tables. I just did it in excel
