How many of you did your seating chart COMPLETELY just you and your DH with no other input?
How many of you had FILs or your parents help out?
we are about to 'embark' on this and honestly, I'd rather just do it myself. However, FMIL was ANAL about the seating for my bridal shower so I'm afraid she's going to take over the wedding seating as well.

Re: seating chart question... help!
I knew it was going to be a big issue so I decided to let my mom do the family seating and I did our friends. FH is doing whatever he wants with his side b/c i couldnt care less lol

Re: seating chart question... help!
i let mil seat her family, fil seat his family and my parents did their family and friends. I took care of my friends and dh's friends and put the tables in an order. It was much easier this way.

Re: seating chart question... help!
We did our friends/coworkers tables, my parents did their family/friend tables and his parents did their family/friend tables. Esp for DH's side there were a LOT of people that I had never met before therefore I had no idea who to seat with whom. It worked out pretty well... there was no drama or anything like that!

Re: seating chart question... help!
i had 2 glasses of wine. I called my mom and asked her a few things but I basically did it without them telling us. She wanted to see it afterwards and I said no it's done too bad. She wasn't really happy with that but I didn't have any older relatives by the dj and the family was all kept together so she couldn't complain. I didn't want too many people involved because it gets out of control.

Re: seating chart question... help!
i gave dh and his mother the seating chart for their side. I didnt want to put certain family members of theirs with others bc i know theres some problems, i didnt want to put the wrong people at their table bc i know that would cause problems. It was easiest for me and glad to just give their side for them to take care of. Plus i wanted to make sure that everyone who knew eachother best sat together, i didnt want to separate close friends so to make sure that everyone sat with whom they knew best and nobody sat together that had problems, I let them do their side. Let me tell you it was a lifesaver, the seating charts are the most annoying part of planning. More than half that job was done before I even started and i just had to fill in the rest and took me no time really to do it. I did my seating chart in 1 day

Re: seating chart question... help!
We're having a small wedding (slightly less than 100) and I've done all the seating with input from my mum and FH (whenever I have a question/dilemma).
We're having a buffet dinner as opposed to a sit-down/table service so if anyone wants to move around I guess they can.

Re: seating chart question... help!
I'm doing the seating charts on my own, but once it's 'complete' I'm gonna give it to my mother and have her look it over. I know all the guests pretty well, so I think I can manage

Re: seating chart question... help!
DH and I basically did everything ourselves, i asked my mom if she had any preferences for her table and tables around her, but we are both children of divorced families, so we had to separate alot of people so when something worked we just went with it and it kinda made it easier believe it or not.
when it was done in one night i slept on it and reviewed it the next morning and thought it was still good so i sent it over to the hall and told our families it was done and sent no time for changes

Re: seating chart question... help!
DH and I did the seating for our friends and coworkers. My mom did her side of the family and MIL did her side of the family. It really wasn't too bad because my RH had tables ranging from 8, 10 or 12 seats.
