Seating Chart Questions

I have everyone grouped into tables, but I still have two questions:

1. What side does the bride's family sit on?
2. Who usually sits closest to the bride and groom: friends (bridal party) or parents?

I did it like this:

when you walk into the room, the bride's family sits on the left, grooms on the right. And I will sit on the same side as my family (to FH's right)

And the first few tables closest to us, I did it order of importance, parents, siblings, cousins, friends, coworkers, etc.

This is how I am going to do it also.

I had my immediate family (table with my parents) sit on the same side that i would and DH's family on the opposite side of our little table closest to him. Everyone else we just sort of mixed and matched because we did not want a line down the room of my side and his side. The BP was spread out at various tables so they were near us but not immediate.

When it's order of importance....should my mom's friends get precendence over my own when it comes to seating them closer to me? For some reason I originally though it would go like this - my family, mom's friends, my friends/coworkers

Then again, I kinda like where I originally put my friends- near the bar!
