I need help! A friend of mine had a brain tumor a few years ago. She had surgery to remove the tumor and she never completely went back to normal. She acts awkward in social situations and I think she's uncomfortable so I invited her parents along too. Is it ok to sit her with her parents? I think that's where she'd be the most comfortable but I don't want to insult her or her parents by seating them together.

Re: seating chart woes
When in doubt... ask. Ask her if she'd prefer to sit with her parents or with friends.

ok well here's the issue with asking her. I only invited 1 other friend from college so that is the only person she'll know there and because she is uncomfortable around other people, I'd feel bad sitting her with this other girl. I don't want her to feel that she has to entertain my other friend the whole night, ya know?

Than just sit her with her parents... in the end you can't please everyone and it's not like she won't be allowed to get up from her seat... hopefully she'll spend the night on the dance floor with the friend from college

This is what I was leaning towards, I don't think she'll even realize and I think her parents will understand why I sat her with them and hopefully appreciate it instead of being upset by it. Thanks Kim!

I wouldn't even worry about it at all. I sat family members together & I think that is the norm most time. People get more insulted (in my experience) when you do not seat them with family! So you should be good if you sit them together
