My parents and FHs parents are both seperated. We are trying to figure aout seating for our e-party on the 19th. We were going to put dads on one side and moms on the other. This way everyone could be comfortable and not worry about their friends and families interacting negatively or being uncomfortable. Well, I told my dad this and he was the only 1 of the 4 who had aproblem. He thinks everyone at the party will think he requested this and he will look like a jerk. With 4 sep. people no one will think that. Anyway, do u think we should put them on the same side or separate them?? Anyone have the same prob??? Sorry so long. TIA

Re: Seating HELP PLEASE!!!!!
Hmmmm. That's a tough one. I would say maybe it would be best to have each set of parents on separate sides. You don't want any drama on the day.

This was my thought when I first read this.

I like the idea of moms/dads, it's different! If you've only got a problem with 1 out of the 4 people then consider yourself lucky and go with what you want, sorry majority rules Dad!

I would stick to your original idea.. tell him not to worry what other people think because they are not going to focus on the seating arrangements... you only sit down to eat anyway!!

Re: Seating HELP PLEASE!!!!!
My parents are married, but DH's parents got divorced 1 1/2 years ago, and FIL remarried and had a baby with the new wife. DH's parents don't speak. The seating situation was kind of sticky. For the wedding, we put DH's mom and dad on opposite sides of the room, but both tables were close to our table so no one would be offended. I like the idea of putting moms on one side and dads on another, espeically if the separate spouses do not get along well. As long as each parent is seated with their friends and family, I don't think it matters that they're seated apart from each other. Everyone understands that they are separated and it's perfectly normal for them to be seated at different tables.
