Seating Kids at the Wedding

Seating Kids at the Wedding

I've been pretty outspoken about not having kids at weddings, so naturally, there are kids at mine.

Here is the problem, there is ONE kid (or should I say teenager) that is TRULY the source of all my angst, animosity and general bad feelings about kids at the wedding (at least insofar as the kids in question are old enough to understand the meaning of a wedding, because nothing will convince me an infant belongs or should be at a wedding). Her step-father is in the BP.

The way my room is set up I have to put the BP on either side of the sweetheart table, or I wind up with a tremendous amount of wasted space, and a space with two extra tables for no good reason.

I can set up a 'kids' table for all persons under the age of 18 that are not in the bridal party. The problem with this is that his cousin will in all likelihood blow a gasket that his kids are not seated with him, (and attempt to move seating to suit his desires as he has done at past family weddings) and there is one kid that doesn't know any of the other kids at the wedding (although that family hasn't sent in their RSVP yet, so I might be jumping the gun).

The alternative is to seat all kids with their parents. The problem with this is that the ONE kid that I absolutely positively do NOT want at my wedding will be seated at the table immediately next to the sweetheart table.

So, what would you do??

Do a kids' table and get some cool stuff for the table..UNO cards, soduku books, extra bubbles....and if the father has a problem, oh well...it's not HIS wedding. it's YOURS.

I sat all the kids with their parents...let them deal with them. I know in my family, the kids tend to get more rowdy when they are not with their parents.

It worked out well.

Im sitting them with their parents with the exception of DH's son. Let them deal with their kids, I dont want no Bebe kids running around acting a fool at my wedding.

I had a no kid policy with the exception of my FG and RB... see how well that turned out.

I'd put them with their parents....at least then you know you've accounted for the seats.

I could picture the kids squeezing in with the parents at their table and leaving a big empty spot at the kids' table and a lot of uneaten (and expensive) food.
Imagine what will happen to the tablemates of the parents when Junior wants to sit next to Daddy. 'Oh, you don't mind switching with Junior, do you?' My motto is plan for it now and it won't be that bad.

I say put the kids at their own table. Why should you worry if that brat is near you. Tell the father it is your wedding and if he doesnt like it then he can go sit with the kids.

I am doing a kids table mainly because my siblings dont want their kids with them. They are all teenagers and can behave (hopefully) well enough.

Darlene, I would put them w/ their parents, b/c it would aggravate you more if he ended up switching seats around that day....

Also to be honest we had our parent tables beside us & we had no interaction w/ them all night (from our table) or any clue what was going on there. Darlene, you are so wrapped up in e/ other you sort of float through the night---also how much will you truly be sitting at your table?

I know you're right, because I've seen first hand lately how few brides actually sit at the sweetheart table.

I guess my real problem is that I canNOT stand this individual, and I resent the fact that FH had to invite her, (read forced me to invite her, since that is how I feel about it), I'm p*ssed he wanted her to get her own invite, I'm p*ssed she RSVP'd yes, I'm p*ssed that every single solitary time FH & I have gone out with her and her parents she has single handedly ruined the evening with her behavior, I'm p*ssed that I even have to acknowledge her at all. Can you tell that I really don't like her??

There are going to be @ 10 kids (mostly teenagers) at the wedding, and she is the oldest and the least well behaved of the bunch, (the 2 invited 9 year olds put her to shame with how well behaved they are) AND she is an obnoxious, selfish, spoiled PIA brat.
