Seating Options-need suggestions and opinions :-)) long..

Long story short, when FH and I went to talk to our Banquet Manager last night, FH wasn't doing a very good job of convincing BM that we should do the candle place holders. I sooo want this. I was fighting the battle by myself. Grrrr I have lost the fight on this. Especially since FH is not to happy about it. I will deal... Anyway, BM brought up the idea of doing the seating chart which I did like originally, but I feel like my guests have to take something with them to their seats. He mentioned having a couple of waiters have candle holders and hand them out to each guest. Nice, but the candle holder was not the favor. And if the waiter hands it out, they may get confused who is who, the table's... this just opens a can of worms and a mess! I wanted the candle holders to be personalized too...

So I just came up with this: Have the seating chart (2 or 3) we are having at least 250 guests, PLUS at each table setting, have a candle holder with the person's name on it already lit. The down side is the guests won't be taking the holders with them into the reception room but they will have a mini-gift at the table when they get there. How does this sound? My colors are cranberry and cream and we are carrying the candle theme throughout the day. We are giving away crystal candle holders as favors.

Any suggestions welcome....

How did I miss this post?

That is really too bad that they will not let you carry them in.

I think that having the candle at the tables is a great alternative. It is still different and unique and your guests will still be impressed. I love the seating chart idea, I wish I had done it. It will be very elegant.

So the candle will just have the guests name or both name and table number.

My question is since you are putting them at the table will you have assigned seating as well?

Oh, I answered your email.

I was thinking of just putting the guests name no table name on the candle holders. I would still have assigned seating though. I would do the seating chart. And with the candles now its more like: you Joe Smith sit in this chair... type of thing.
Does that make sense?

Though this is not what you intially wanted, I think this is the best alternative. You really wanted these candles as part of your day so this is what you should do.

As I said before your guests will be awed by it and it will be beautiful!!!!

It sounds like a good idea, they will look pretty on the tables - but do you want to tell people which seat to specifically sit in - isn't that more work for you?

Donna it won't be that difficult since I can give the hall an additional seating chart with first names only and they can place the candles next to that place setting. Thanks girls.

Then do that, as long as it doesn't mean extra for you (I was just putting myself in your place) but since you have a plan - go for it.
