Seating was supposed to be easy for me

Seating was supposed to be easy for me

because my mom did my family, FH and I are doing our friends, and FMIL is doing her family ...

but now FMIL wants to 'sit down with us' to discuss some stupidity ... and she has two tables with 7 people in each (our tables seat 10-12 people so that's not nearly enough people!) .... i don't understand why she needs to sit with us ... she claims it's so she can tell us which one is the 'old people' table (because they need to be away from the DJ) ... but seriousyl?! why can't you just write that on the seating chart itself and email it over?!

FH will be convincing her to send it over without a stupid sit-down meeting. but it's still annoying

Honestly, you are probably better off just sitting down and figuring it all out together. I wouldn't have trust FMIL to do it herself.

And our tables sat 10-12 people, and we wanted there to be 10 per table but it didn't work out easily that way- some tables had 8 or 9 people, some had 11 people, one had 12 people! It was just fine!

I agree you should sit down. FH and I sat down with his mother and she told us who was at each table and we placed them together. It made life soo much easier and we were able to change the smaller tables into bigger tables together. It worked out well.
