Second Guessing...

Second Guessing...

No...NOT the wedding, but my dress. My dress is a 2 piece and has a detachable train on it (it's in my album). I brought it with me to the bridal place 2 Saturdays ago to show the girls and to make sure the dress they chose would 'coordinate' with mine. The dress I got is a little 'big' on me, but had to be ordered in a bigger size due to my chest...ugh! So the entire dress needs to be altered. When I put it on at the shop, I didn't get that 'WOW' feeling and my sister didn't have much of a reaction (it was the first time she was seeing it on me). I didnt tell anyone, but came home upset about the entire thing. FH kept asking what was wrong until he finally asked if I had changed my mind on my dress. I couldn't lie and told him I wasn't sure. I dont know if I just am having second thought because the dress doesn't fit correctly, or if it's something else. I don't know what to do...

Now FH is telling me that he wants me to be happy and if I'm not then i should get another dress, which he offered to give me the money for it. I dunno....

I felt the same way about my dress when I went to go try it on...but everyone that saw it assured me it was elegant on me....

If you really want a new dress, I would check it out one more time on, and pull it in the sides, take pictures in it..and make sure before you buy another one...

good luck!

I went through this myself, I lost about 600 due to the deposit. I found the dress of my dream, I love it and am paying crazy money for it, but it is my day and since I am paying for it, I decieded that I need to love my dress because all friends tell me that if I dont I will be in tears because they now me and I went for it. I do not knowe what to tell you, I rushed into the first dress, first dress I tried on and I seriously do not know what I was thinking when I bought it. It is not me at all. To me on my wedding day I want the WOW feeling.

Yes, I would take pics of the dress while you're wearing it. A few days later look at them. Decide then if you really like it.

I found it difficult in searching for dresses. None of them wowed me. However, my personal point of view is that this is only one day. There was no need for 'me' to go crazy looking for another dress when the one I bought looks lovely.

The dress is for you. You have to like it. Everyone has different likes and dislikes. As long as you like it, keep it.

Best of luck.

I had the same situation. No dress wowed me either. I was so over the whole dress shopping thing. I was hungry and cranky and wanted to get it over with.
DO NOT buy another dress b/c your sister didn't like it. Maybe she was not concentrating so she didn't give you the reaction you were looking for.
Good luck!

It's not that she didn't like it, I just didn't get much reaction. Thats all I was saying. I dont know if I will get a big reaction, I guess I was just hoping for it. I've been second guessing this dress and when I put it on, and saw the pictures, I just wasn't happy.

I had the same situation. I rushed into buying a dress and after i paid for it i went to pick it up with my MOH and Bridesmaid but they were not surprised they said it was simple and ok. So after i got sad and decided to buy another one and i made a great decision into changing my dress becuase i only get to dress like this ones.
Good luck.

I think that most brides must go through this I have also been second guessing my dress and I've already invested a lot of money in it. However I was told by a sales lady at another shop that the dress doesn't make the bride the bride makes the dress. I think that with your beautiful venue and you dressed up with hair and nake-up on you will definitely wow your'e guests you're the bride they will be wowed regardless. This is the approach I had to take with myself. However if you feel that this dress is not going to cut it I would start looking now so that you can give yourself some options.

You really don't want to look back and remember not loving your dress... that was really sweet for FH to offer to get you another one you love- look around, see if there's anything you love and if there is then get it. FSIL went through the same thing!! She had been shopping around for weeks, then she said she found 'the one' But the next weekend I went with her to look at another dress just for the fun of it. No one was with us, just her and I b/c she thought she was done looking. Well, turns out, she looked GORGEOUS in another gown. I didn't see the first one she said was 'the one' I only saw this one, but I told her to get it! It was a trunk show so she had to get it right there on the spot. She was in some serious dress denial. I still joke about the devestated look on her face when we left the store with her gown. But you know what?? It was meant to be because it was perfect! She was freaked for a bit- but after wearing it around and getting accessories to match it turned out to be perfect. You just might need to see it fitted and with a veil etc etc. y'know? Plus when she got her dress it was like a size 10 and she's a size 2 so it made her nervous. So don't worry!

I would definitely try it again-put it on, clip it back, take pics....look at yourself from every angle. And if you still arent happy then why not at least look for another dress. You may find that looking makes you fall back in love with the first one-and if you find something else that you love than great. YOu need to be happy and love what youa re wearing-Good Luck

I think the dress you have now is georgous. I would go with your first choice, I saw a dress I fell in love with when I went to get bridesmaid dresses and I keep thinking about it, but I know once I try on my dress again, I will know I made the right choice!

If your second guessing, maybe you should go try on other dresses. However, I think you were probably upset because you did not get the reaction you wanted. But you have to like the dress and no one else. So if you bought it, it must have been for a reason. I always say....Go with your first instinct.

The same thing happened to me. I bought a dress I thought I was in love with then I found something better so I switched. If you really want to switch you should look around and be 100% sure you like the dress before buying it. You don't want to be a 3 or 4 dress bride!

Really! I just looked in your album and the dress is stunning! I think it's beautiful! But you have to be happy with it. I agree with the other girls. Go give it another try on. Maybe after they take it in and do the alts you will like it much better!

I agree - don't freak out, just keep looking, you have time and an understanding FH. It'll work out and you'll look gorgeous!
