second guessing my dress

I seem to be in that mood that i have read about other girls going though...

i dont love my dress. I actually never did and wasnt even going to try it on but they had me changing it up to make it unique and into what i want, but when i look at it I just wish i had something different.

Its wayyy to late now and my mommy paid for half so i could never do that but I just feel like so many things are turning into something other that what I wanted becuase i always let everyones opinions influence me.

Just feeling a bit depressed tonight looking at my dress and plans so far. thanks for listening

heres a bad cell phone picture of me in it.

Is there any way you could get a new dress from the same store and just put the money that you already paid on this dress towards it?

Its such a beautiful dress! What dont you like about it? Maybe you could have fabric added or tailor it so it looks the way you want.

When i went in to ask about making a small change, they said the dress was already being made becuase they are custom making it for me, so i would guess not... they may not be able to sell it if i dont buy it.

Did you ever think about maybe going to Davids and finding a second dress for the reception? A lot of girls seem to do that and it might be a good way to respect your mom and still feel great during the party.

I think it's a very pretty dress. Maybe you'd like it more with a sweetheart top - and that's easy for them to alter.

Just something to consider. I think it'll make the dress look softer.

I think it's beautiful but if you're not in love with it, you should try to do whatever you can to get a different one. Maybe the place you got it from would let you apply the money your mom paid toward it to another dress. Good luck.

I know exactly how you feel. When was the last time you tried it on? Maybe after you see all the changes you will love it? Its the same situation I'm in and thats what I keep telling myself.

Add personal touches to it, that's what I'm doing with my dress...my sash will be held up by a swarvarski crystal and pearl blue starfish in the back... I can help you think of things to do to make you love it if you'd like...

aww I got like that too, but you have to look at the whole picture when you have your hair done and make up and your jewlery on, also when is the last time you tried it on?

thanks girls. The front is already being made into a sweatheart and the back a v-back. Maybe Ill love it then.

I will just wait and see. I do like it more in person than in the pictures, but thats what im worried about.

thanks for the suggestions girls!

If you are really unhappy about your dress there is still time to do something about it. I changed my mind and ended up as a two dress bride. I sold the old dress on ebay. Your wedding is in August, so there is still time to order something and have enough time for it to come in. I ordered my dress 7 months before my wedding and it arrived in about 5 and a half months. This is a once in a lifetime event, and the dress is a huge part of it, if you're that unhappy I think you should def consider other options.

Re: second guessing my dress

I know how your feeling. My first dress was a gift from FH's Aunt. She had a boutique in Arizona that she closed and told me to pick one out from pictures. So I picked one out and she gave it to me as a gift. So it was pretty, but not me. I couldn't justify going and looking for a dress if I had a brand new one for free.

My mom could tell that I wasn't exactly happy with it or in love with it. So she said Nicole I'm taking you hunting for a dress if you find one that you love good if not then you can wear the one from Frank's aunt.
So we went to BR in Carle Place, tried on about 30 dresses. I had an idea what I wanted after that. I wanted something with two different fabrics, inique, ruching, and some bead work not alot.
We got to priscilla of boston gave them the budget. Somehow my dress got slipped in with the dresses that were in the budget and I had that moment , I fell in love with my dress. Turns out it was way over budget but it didn't matter to my mom.
So now I have the dress that I LOVE!!!!

You should go look, it wouldn't hurt!

I just wanted to say that I think your dress is really beautiful! When it is all done and you try it on you may realize that you love it. I actually think it's really pretty!!!

I feel your pain, I went through it, if you already ordered the dress it may be a problem as fabric and what not was already ordered and in production, if not, and you only left a deposit, see if there's any way you could put what you left toward a different dress, it's a horrible feeling to not love your dress and you have to be happy with it, so ultimately you have to do what's going to make you most happy, good luck and I hope it works out!

Re: second guessing my dress

first off its a beautiful dress and u look amazing..but i have to say if u r not happy with it u should change it.thereis a diffrence from getting a dress that u loved n having second thoughts cause we all do that but if u never loved it in the first place thats another thing.maybe u can put the deposit on another dress in the store?if u cant maybe after its made have it changed somehow maybe with a wrap or diff straps or add a sash to make it more to ur liking.or maybe give ur mom back the money and just go buy a diff dress altogether?what about a second dress just for the reception..either way u will look amazing in whatever u wear hth and good luck keep us updated
