second guessing my dress

Original post by sumerbride09

I seem to be in that mood that i have read about other girls going though...

i dont love my dress. I actually never did and wasnt even going to try it on but they had me changing it up to make it unique and into what i want, but when i look at it I just wish i had something different.

Its wayyy to late now and my mommy paid for half so i could never do that but I just feel like so many things are turning into something other that what I wanted becuase i always let everyones opinions influence me.

Just feeling a bit depressed tonight looking at my dress and plans so far. thanks for listening

heres a bad cell phone picture of me in it.

thanks girls. The front is already being made into a sweatheart and the back a v-back. Maybe Ill love it then.

I will just wait and see. I do like it more in person than in the pictures, but thats what im worried about.

well I was worried about that too - thinking it would look bad in pics (like I hate the pic I have of me in the dress but when I try it on I feel better) but remember you will have a professional photographer who will KNOW how to make it look good. . .. just wait til you try it on again and see how it goes!!!

Ack!! I feel like I started this and I'm SO SORRY

First of all-you look beautiful in your gown (I'm sure thats the last thing you want to hear right now)
I think any reputable gown shop would want you to be happy and change the order for you. Just change it IMMEDIATELY and understand that b/c it was custom there is the possibility of losing the deposit. Or go with the ebay suggestion. You still have plenty of time.

Just remember, when you switch the order, there is no changing it after that so you have to be 200% sure.

My advice to other brides (after my switcheroo) is to wait as long as possible to order your dress, its such an emotional purchase and lifetime decision. I think so many of us want to do that first and 'get it over with' when we really have no idea what we want in the first place, or how it fits into our venue, theme, etc.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm really happy with my (new) dress and I'm glad I trusted my instincts.I was never a 'princess' although I wanted to be.
Keep us posted and good luck!!

Oh yeah and PS!!!

STOP looking at pics of yourself in your gown...In fact, DELETE THEM ALL!

I'm convinced part of the reason my dress lost its lustre was that I looked at WAY too many pics of myself in it, that it wasn't exciting anymore.

Girl hit that delete button and do it now!

your posts made me feel better. You are right though, i need to stop looking at it. Im sure ill like it better with the changes. i think i miss dress shopping..lol it was the best part of wedding planning so far!

i think i will wait until it comes in to make any decisions and then maybe do the e-bay thing if i really hate it. But ill let ya know!

thanks again.

Ok, im feeling like this too... And im so glad i found this post. Like u, i also let people influence me. Although i love my dress, i wish i had looked around more until I settled. If you dont absolutely LOVE your dress, then keep looking. This is one day that will last forever-- get the dress that you love. (at last thats what i keep telling myself) lol
