second-guessing my dress-long

Original post by smitten

What should you do if your second guessing your dress choice but can't do anything about it????

I got engaged in March and set the date for August...so I didn't have a whole lot of time to waste. I bought a sample Lazaro dress (it had only been in the store a couple of weeks and was immaculate), but I'm starting to second guess my choice. I initially went in with my heart set on a ballgown dress. I think I bought this dress because it was available NOW and I didn't have to worry about special 'rush' charges and getting the dress 1 week before the wedding.

Now, here I am, 7-weeks to go and I'm wondering if I should have just chanced it. I can't just go out and buy another dress and eat the cost on this dress. Although it was a sample...it still wasn't cheap. I just can't throw that money away. I guess I can try to sell it, but there's no guarantee someone would buy it.

Sorry I'm going on and on...I've been losing sleep over this for days. Thanks for listening.

Before you go dress shopping, why don't you go try your dress on again.
But thiis time, bring high heel shoes, the jewlery if you already bought it, and either put your own make-up on or go to a department store and get a makeup application. Fix you hard similar to how you will be havinging it that day and bring the veil.
It makes ALL the difference in the world!! I don't know about your salon, but mine had a try on room, where they turn off the regular lights, and turn on a differnt light which lets you see how the dress will look in natural light. I also wore a Lazaro dress and second guessed it, untill my second fitting when I saw how it would look with everything put togther. I hope this helps

I would suggest two things that may help...
Did you have cups sewn inside the dress? I did this with mine and it made a big difference.
Maybe you could have a fuller skirt underneath to make the bottom fuller. It looks like it is a full skirt, with a lot of material, it may fall better and change the shape a litte.
Hou could have very thing spagetti staps sewn in. My dress had the option, and it gave it a more regal style. Pllus it hepled keep it up and not let if scrung at the waist, and look less wrinkled.

Re: second-guessing my dress-long

Sorry...thanks Brianne for getting my pics up!!!

Thanks for all the kind words!!!

I think my dress is beautiful...I just think I would have preferred the ballgown style. I'm going to take the advise of having cups sewn in...the waist also needs to be taken out a little bit.

Unfortunately, i might not be able to make the dress more poufy...the hem cannot be lowered. I currently have a 2 3/4 heel...maybe if I find something a little lower, say 2in...i can have a little more tulle added underneath to pouf out the bottom a little.

we'll see at my next fitting...i'll also make sure my hair and makeup are done next time too.

Thank you everyone!!!!

I thought of another idea. How about asking them to remove the tull or slip you already have underneath. My dress came with one already attached to it. But, if you have it cut out, and in it's place have a 'Hoop Skirt'. I am sure it will give you the ballroom effect you are looking for. From what I can tell, your dress material looks like satin, thick enough were you will not see the outline of the hoop. And even if you do, you canhave them make a wide skirt slip to go over it. Maybe you can call and ask
