we booked my friend to be our dj, informally. we were supposed to have a follow up meeting with the DJ and MC (since she will be attending).
well, we had some stuff going on and she had some stuff going on and i'm hearing she's possibly having relationship issues... anyway we havent met up yet.
i get that my wedding is really far away, but i want to be early in planning!
so... i'm gonna give it one more shot before i really start looking into other djs
What do you guys think?

That's tough; I'm all about planning ahead too so that'd bug me.. I'm not sure what I would do but a big thing that came to mind first was Does your friend have insurance? Most RH's need your vendors to have a certain amount of liability insurance on their company.. If they don't, that's the perfect way to back out if it comes to that!

I guess I will just ask her to make an appointment and see what happens! thanks!

I'd try to meet with her as soon as possible. Get a contract with her too even though she's your friend. If things don't work out you know we all have DJ suggestions for you.

I'd have a talk with your firend and tell her that even though your wedding is far away you want to get things booked and finalized. Im sure she wouldnt give another client the run around. All because you are friends things should still be done in a professional manner. Our weddings really arent that far away. 2013 will be here b4 we know it and things book up quickly. If this doesnt work out with your friend you want to make sure you have options when u look else where.

I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer, but if you're gonna mix friends with business you're gonna have a bad time. Friends don't treat friends the way they would treat regular clients/customers so it kind of becomes awkward when the actual business side of it has to be worked out. IMO, I would start looking for other DJs and just say that you want her to enjoy the wedding, not work at it.

Im using my fh godfather as my photographer. He claimed us when we started dating almst 8 years ago. Im very happy cause I know hes a professional but i had the same problem trying to get in touch with him. I had fh keep calling him about once a week and he finally set up an appoitment. Im like you. I like to get things done ahead if time. When i met with him i joked saying dont fudge up my wedding ir ill hurt you and we both laughed but then i said seriously ill hurt you lol but. Just call her and explain you want to finalize things. Also dont feel obligated to use her. Do what you want. Its your day.
