I was speaking to a friend of mine as I am in the process of selecting a reception site. Most of the places I will be considering hold more than one event at a time. My friend remarked that it would 'really bother' her to see another bride at her reception. Would it or has it (for those already married) bother you to see another bride on your wedding day? Personally it would not bother me. But maybe there is a perspective I am not considering. Thanks for your input?

Re: Seeing another bride at your reception
Honestly, and this is just the way I think, I have this notion in my head that its 'my day'. I think it would really bother me if I saw another bride at my reception hall. One of my priorities (and everyone differs) was to have a reception hall that caters to one event at a time. This way I know the grounds, the rooms, the bathrooms, even the workers are all catering to my affair and no one else. I figured if Im dishing out all that money, the attention should be on me

Re: Seeing another bride at your reception
There were 2 other brides at my hall the day of my wedding. The only time I saw them was when we first arrived and all 3 of us were taking photos outside. Honestly, it didn't bother me at all and one of them was a bride I had talked to on LIW, so it was sort of nice to see how beautiful she looked.
Also, they were a considerable distance away from me, in different areas of the grounds, and once we started the photos, I was so caught up in what we were doing that I didn't even notice them. Once we were inside, I only saw the people from my own party (but I also never had to go to the bathroom the whole night!) I originally wanted the one wedding at a time place, but really, it didn't make any difference or affect my day at all.

I tried to add another poll as part of this post, but I didn't figure it out the right way. It's my first time adding a poll. So it's actually on the boards as another post. Sorry!

This is how I felt too. I didnt start thinking that way - but when i went to halls that had only one event at a time - it really had me thinking about this. I decided i did not want another bride having her wedding possibly right across from mine.

Re: Seeing another bride at your reception
I believe this is a personal decision.
Personally, my priority was a facility with one wedding at a time. Why? I want to be selfish on that day. It's my day!
Secondly, I've been to weddings in the past where there were several brides at once and as I guest I did not like it. I distinctly remember the last wedding I went to on Long Island where the facility seemed like a market place for brides. There were brides and their bridal party left, right, and center. It took me a while to finally pinpoint the bridal party I was there for.
While thousands of people get married every year in the U.S., I do not want mine to have the feel of, 'oh, it's just another wedding.' And that's just how I've felt when I attended weddings at halls that hosted more than one weddings at once.

Re: Seeing another bride at your reception
There was another bride at my hall but her cocktail hour started 1 1/2 hours after mine, we had our own entrance, bathroom, kitchen, etc. So I never saw her or her guests.

I think that its great to be the only bride- I luckily will have that at my hall but if it comes down to money issues(one wedding halls tend to be very expensive) than I don't see the big deal. It is still your day no matter who is there.

Re: Seeing another bride at your reception
I had my wedding at Meadow Club and there was another bride there at the same time. I ran into her in the hall, we both said congrats and I love your dress! That was it! I never thought about it for a second otherwise! I loved my wedding day and was so caught up in my event it never crossed my mind that there was anything else going on, anywhere, in the entire world!
And the staff was amazing so my guests were not made to feel as if they were too busy or understaffed or anything! After going through it, I still wouldnt have done it differently!

Re: Seeing another bride at your reception
Originally I didn't think it would bother me to see another bride...Then as we started to see halls that only hosted one event at a time, I fell in love with the idea that this could truly be 'My Day!' Another plus for me with the one event at a time was our hall offered to change up anything we wanted on the menu due to the fact that they are only cooking for our wedding only...
When my brother got married, unfortunately it rained & we were forced to take pictures inside at the hall..There was another wedding that was also going on that night...It was a big production to stay out of the other bride's way! So for me, it is just easier to not have to deal with that headache

Re: Seeing another bride at your reception
I'm looking at it like this: although I know there are tons of other people getting married on the same day as me and my FH, I want to pretend I'm the only bride. It will just make my day feel more special and magical to me!
I figure, this is one of the only days where I'm entitled to be a little selfish.
I went out looking for halls with the intention of booking one that only does one event at a time, and that's exactly what I did (yeah NRC!!).

Re: Seeing another bride at your reception
This is one of the reasons why we picked where we did. We get the whole grounds to ourselves and to be honest, it really wasn't anymore expensive than places that did two and three weddings at a time. My first choice had been the Riveria but this place is just as quaint and beautiful. I wanted to be the only bride and have the attention on me

Re: Seeing another bride at your reception
There was another bride at Chateau Briand when I was there. Our party times were staggered though. I didnt see the bride but a few guests did while going outside to smoke. Honestly the place is so big I didnt care at all. I know its a 'wedding factory' or whatever you call it - heck I needed somewhere to have my reception!

Re: Seeing another bride at your reception
well..this issue was one of the reasons why we left our old hall (CHCC) and went to Girgios TV people would of seen this and CHCC didnt want to show it...
Not only is a wedding hard to manage when more then 1 bride/groom are there...but it takes less away from you. You pay all this money, you and your guest deserve you own time. I wouldnt of had it any other way

Re: Seeing another bride at your reception
I've never been to a wedding where it was the only wedding.
Every wedding I've gone to, there were other brides.
So, to me it was normal for there to be another bride.
But, I never saw another bride on the day of my wedding. I know there were more, and I was hoping to see one of them because I used to chat with her on LIW
