Seleting DJ

How did everyone go about selecting a DJ? DId you go to showcases to hear them or just go by reccomendations??? I've talked to several and Ive liked them and or thought the price was good but I dont know where to go from here. Help!!

Does anyone have feedback on Long Island Sounds DJ -Someone I work with raves about them, but I dont him that well.

Hi. I looked through local bridal mags and went on recomendations. I didnt see anyone that I liked during showcases. I was looking for a dj that wasnt typical or cheesy. I found Spin Around Sound. They are awesome and a couple of other girls on the board have gone with them as well. They have a website spinaroundsound.com. Try them out. Alot has to be your gut feeling too. You need to feel comfortable with someone. Good Luck!!

Another recent one...I am addressing our invitations(Which we need to do this wkend) and I look at the reply card and everything written on there is written twice in 2 diff fonts!

I went with Spin Around Sound too. I found him through this site. He had excellent feedback and when we went to see him we liked his ideas. Good Luck.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out. I'm searching for a hairdresser that does "updo's" in the Lower Westchester county area. i.e. New Rochelle, Pelham, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, even the Bronx. Does anyone know of any? I realize this is the "long Island Wedding" site but I thought I'd ask...

I am also using Spin Around Sound for my wedding. Deciding on a DJ was probably the toughest decision my fiance and I had to make for our wedding. Tom White is incredibly nice and very responsive to my questions. They were a bit more than we wanted to spend on our DJ but we feel that having a good DJ is an important part of the "big day". Hi Layla, We booked Long Island Sounds and are really confident with our choice. Chris (the owner) did my cousins wedding almost two years ago and he was great - it was the best wedding I ever attended. I think you should check them out. Good Luck!

26 days - how exciting! Re: Your problem - I'd suggest that rather than let this bother you, just call them or have your fiance call. You know that these kind of things can waste alot of negative energy and since you need to know to give the headcount, just call. Sounds irritating, I hope I will remember my own advice in 9 months!! But to let anything unnecessarily upset you at this point is probably best avoided. Just tell them straight out, "I need to finalize the headcount and want to clarify who is attending". It is unfortunate that brides seem to have this added task but I think it can be simply remedied. Hang in there for the next 26 days, you're in the homestretch! You can always vent your frustrations here with us :-)

Selecting DJ

I chose Variety D.J. - and I went with the owner. My photographer said he saw plenty of weddings and he thought they did a good job. Chosing a D.J. was terribly difficult.. Try to ask questions of people in the wedding field..when you go to see a vendor(ie: florist, photographer etc) sometimes you can get some good leads from them about other vendors....they might be able to recommend someone! Doesn't hurt to try right? Good luck!

I think its wonderful that your FMIL is hosting this for you. Mine made no such offer and since my dad had already done so much for us, we had to pay for our own rehearsal dinner. Cost us close to $700! Be sure to give her a big fat kiss!
