Self proclaimed invite? with poll.

Self proclaimed invite? with poll.

I just sent out my invites 2 weeks ago.
Sooooo...
Yesterday, I get a facebook message of a friend of a friend- who I like and he is soooo sweet and he wanted to know mine and FH's address to invite us to his birthday party which is not until November.

I asked our mutual friend what she thought and she agrees that he wants to be invited- she also advised that the last month before the wedding more and more people want to be your friend!

I am honored that he wants to come- it's just that I'm not paying for the wedding and when I mentioned it to my mom she was like 'just ignore it' and also said 'stay away' like, huh?

How can I do that- he is practically a family friend who she happens to not know.

If it's one thing I have learned through this whole process- it's the people who truly want to come..if your close with them or not...that really appreciate it.

You think I should invite him?

can you wait to see if you get a few No's and then send him one?

I agree with the b-list idea. When you get your first few No's, then send him an invite.

just to play devil's advocate, how come you didnt invite him in the first place? is it maybe because he is not that close of a friend to be invited?
i have so many ppl who i know through mutual friends that we are friendly, but i am not going to invite them. although my wedding would still be great if i were able to invite everyone, its just too much!

I agree --- though you could send an invite if you get some no's. But again, why did he not make your list in the first place?

I said no because obviously there was a reason you did not invite him in the first place.

There are a lot of my friends that will not be invited to the wedding...I love them, but we are having a small wedding so we just can't have everyone we want. We chose the people who are the most important to us.

The poll is exactly 50-50 split!

Honestly- I didn't invite him because we are not that close not because I wouldn't want to have him with us on our day.
I actually think this person is an absolute doll- nicer most of the other acquaintances we have which is why I care so much.

I have a big family and neve even had the chance for a 'B List'...it was all must invite people and whoever we had room for we invited. I am having a 'small' wedding of 250+ people, lol.

Besides, most people see weddings as a financial burden anyway. I didn't want to put anyone in that perdicament.

I would invite him without a guest.

I say this only because I recently did this. I added a two of my cousin's best friends....we were all in her wedding together and really bonded. They came to my birthday party recently and were SUCH great energy....I felt that they would really bring something special to the party and they REALLY appreciated the invitations! They were among the first to call and thank me and that they can't wait.

Isn't it weird that way?

Good luck with your decision!

I agree, same thing happend with my shower. People who asked to be invited were the happiest to be with us. I am going to invite him and no guest. I feel good about this decision.

Now...how do I write back and say oh BTW- here's our address...sorry we didnt invite you yet but I didn't think you wanted to come?

argh, it's not easy!

Don't even mention that he wasn't on the initial mailing. Just send your address and say something like: as you know, we are counting down to our wedding day- August*****, I hope you've saved the date and are ready to tear up the dance floor with us! I really hope you can join us, please let me know if you haven't received our invitation by this weekend.

i voted yes! to invite him- i see you already made your decision to do so anyway. im sure there will be some no's out of the 250 invited lol so i dont think one more person will matter and your mom wont even know either way.
