Sell this house! THE SHOW.

I have a question.

Ive watched this show a few times and I just think some people are crazy!

I mean do you really expect me to believe that the house isnt selling because of some picture of an elephant on the wall that is removable and obviously going with the owner?

I mean if I go to a open house, I dont give two sh-ts about what curtain they have or what art they have on the wall or what color their blankets are. I mean its not like Im buying it furnished and Im going to use their stuff!

I would want to see if the house is the size I want, how much work it needs,(boiler, roof, siding, etc).

So what up with people going into others homes and discussing to no end the owners taste in decor and sometimes clothing???

I mean they are taking it with them and if they dont you can throw it out.

I just dont get it

PS I can understand making the house clean and uncluttering it and I even like the idea of baking cookies right before so it can be homey.

I like it a lot. Actually, my aunt does what they do on the show for a living. She goes into houses that are for sale and helps the seller get more money for them. It definitely makes a big difference.

Yeah i can understand that,but I dont understand why a picture that wont be there when you move in is keeping you from buying the house or in this case keeping the open house goers from bidding on it.

I'm sure they dramatize this a bit for the show, but I could see how people would not be able to see past some things like ugly wallpaper, a weird sculpture or painting, etc... I once heard (and it might have even been on that show!) that when selling, make your house look like a 'model home' -- get rid of as many personal items as possible.

Same thing with househunters. Those people are always like 'oh I hate this color carpet' and nitpick little things that can all be changed anyway. I cannot even watch that show anymore

I love this show and yes, some people get very annoying but I think a lot of it is played up for the show.

I like the show too, but get so annoyed when a home -buyer is like 'I hate that bedspread'

I guess housing markets are different out of NY, I've had friends that bought houses with pink bathrooms, ugly carpet, etc knowing that it's all cosmetic and they will change it.
