Selling on e-bay...

I'm hoping someone has a few minutes to please help me out.
Anything new with the computer takes me forever to learn and I'm really concerned about getting myself into trouble. LOL!!
I have a brand new item to sell which is currently in high demand. I was thinking I would do well with it.
Please tell me what I need to know.
I guess first I have to register. Is there any fine print I have to worry about?
What is the cost to list an item?
Is there a specific time it has to be left up for auction, or do you set your own time?
Do you have to accept the highest bid, or can you set a minimum that you want it to go for?
I know nothing at all about it so anything you can tell me would greatly be appreciated.

depends on how much you list it for...upto $9.99 is $.40 I think...so I would put it at 9.99 if you think people will go into a bidding war

you can do a time of your choice...but it costs more money...you get 3, 5, or 7 days for free...most people try for their auctions to end late Sunday night

yes for highest bid...unless you put a stipulation in your auction saying that you will only accept from people who have at least 10 positive feedbacks

yes for minimum...you can set a researve price...ebay has the info...
