Seltzer Water question

I hear people say that Coke/Pepsi and other sodas are not great for you but is seltzer water considered in that category? It's only water and carbonation. Just curious.

I was told by a nursing friend of mine years ago that for every can of carbonated soda you drank you should have 1/2 a banana as it restores the potassium that the soda depletes.

But I wonder where she got her information from as I've encountered heard anyone that believed or heard that too.

I get bored drinking plain ol' water. I need some fizz!

Thanks.

Re: Seltzer Water question

That is a good idea, however it is not provided free at work like seltzer is.

However looking at the can it says 0 sodium..who knows..

Thanks for the tip

Re: Seltzer Water question

I thought soda water and seltzer were the same thing Club soda is the one with sodium.

The carbonation speeds up the absorbtion and digestion process of soda so you end up going to the bathroom more frequently and that's probably where the potassium loss may come in. With that in mind, it wouldn't matter if it's coke or seltzer.

Here's an article with more info about carbonation then I thought there was...

Carbonation
