send out date/rsvp date

I have heard so many different standards for the date to send out the invites and the rsvp date.

Some say send out a 2 months before and get them back 1 month before..

Wedding date: April 15th

Option 1
Send out: Feb. 1st
Rsvp date: March 3rd

Or

Option 2

Send out : Feb 15th
rsvp: March 15th

Which one is better?

I think option two because it still gives you a month before the wedding to get things ready.

I say option 1 - but it depends when you need your final count to your hall etc... im a fan of getting things done earlier rather than later

And I have a rather large b list. We don't want to go over 240. So i needed to make a b list. I figure with the earlier rsvp date I would have more time to send out more invites

I'm planning on sending them around mid-January to late January, and RSVP date is April 1st (one month before the big day!)

Since it looks like you have a larger amount of folks, I think Option 1 makes more sense in that cakse.

twinie ... i am going with option 2.
already have my invites in my possession. i have a B list also, but the way i see it, is that either option, they are going to have less time to respond anyway. iam just hoping that my immediate family responds ASAP.

I'm the day after you. I'm sending out in January sometime around the 20th with an RSVP date of March 21. My final count is due about 2 weeks later
