I ordered my save the dates right after we booked our venue. I got so excited and couldnt wait. My wedding is in November 2013 in a hotel.
When should I send out the save the dates? Year before or is that too far away?

I plan to send mines out 8-9 months before. I know there are brides on here who send theirs out on the year mark or even before.

I pretty much did the same as you, I got my date in Jan & got my save the dates in March, I sent them out at the end of March.. my one year was in April

Sending STD out a year in advance since we are a summer wedding, and people plan vacations and family trips in July.

Mine is also in November, I guess I could have waited longer but I got them out now. We were getting a lot of questions about when it was, etc... plus we've had other people in his family get engaged after us and so it felt kind of necessary to 'claim' that time space early on. If that makes sense? I'm rambling, I know.

I just got my save the dates over the weekend and plan to send them out within the next 2-3 weeks (11 months before wedding)

I am getting married a week before you, and I plan on sending them in January...The reason for that is because I wanted to do November.December but I thought about how many christmas cards and things come in the mail during that time and didn't want people misplacing or losing my STD's so I am waiting till January to send them out so they don't get lost amongst cards..hope this helps!

I didnt think of the holiday rush cards. Maybe I'll send them end of Ocotober to avoid the rush. I want people to be able to book hotel rooms before my block fills up.

i just sent mine out and our one year mark was last year... however we have over half of our guests coming from out of town, so i wanted to make sure they had enough notice.
