Re: Seperate wedding account?
FH and I opened a joint money market account with the same online bank in which we both already have separate money market accounts. right now, it's just for the wedding but in general, it's going to be our joint savings account.

FH and I are going to set up a joint account just to get started. We have our own savings but want to combine so it would be more!

Re: Seperate wedding account?
we didn't want to do a joint account before we're married just because it would make our taxes a little too complicated.
so i opened up an ING savings account specifically for us to use as a wedding account. after we pay all of our expenses (rent, travel, electricity, food, etc) we put 70% of the leftovers from our biweekly paychecks into the account, leaving us with 30% for ourselves. not fun, but we calculated exactly how much per month we'll need to save to pay for the wedding and it works!

Re: Seperate wedding account?
We have a joint savings with HSBC online. We used the money we got from our eparty to open the account and whenever we need to put down a deposit for something regarding the wedding we just transfer the money thats needed into one of our checking accounts.

Re: Seperate wedding account?
fh and i opened a joint acct after our eparty. we both put 25% of our monthly salary each month. it works pretty well, its a wamu online saving acct so the apy is 5%

Re: Seperate wedding account?
we created a joint checking and savings account yesterday and put the money we got at the engagement party into it, not much, but something. we will add to it as we go and do deposits and such from that account

Re: Seperate wedding account?
FH and I opened a joint savings account a month after we got engaged. Our engagement party helped get us started and every week we make deposits.

Re: Seperate wedding account?
FH and i have separate savings accounts on EmigrantDirect.com the apy when we started wa 4.8% and has now gone down to 4.3% as of yesterday because of the federal drop.
4.3 is still awesome compared to the .015% i was getting with my wachovia personal savings..(what a rip!)
we plan on opening a join checking/savings with a high yield interest soon. we're probably going to end up paying for half of the wedding so we need to get crackin'!!!

Re: Seperate wedding account?
we opened a joint account only to pay the bills, then we got engaged and decided to use the saving accounts to save money for the wedding...
