Serious Religion ?

What does it actually mean to remain faithful to your Religion?
I would love all answers

Re: Serious Religion ?

I would *guess* that it means to follow the teachings closely.

Or better yet, maybe it means to not turn your back on your religion in time of need. For example, maybe there are some Catholics denouncing the church because of the scandals. Maybe when someone says be faithful, they mean don't turn your back because of the scandals?

I don't know. Just guessing here.

ETA: Just wanted to clarify, I made no judgement on the Catholic church here, just using it as an example.

I think being faithful to ones religion means to stand up for it, for example if someone asks you something you tell them what you honestly believe and more importantly what you practice

I think being faithful also means not being a hypocrite, many people preach all these wonderful things and go to church and do the complete opposite of what they 'preach' such individuals and I have met a few are not 'faithful' to their religion or they would not act or say the things that they do--- I think these people if they were 'faithful' to their religion would not act in a negative or gossipy manner, maybe they forget the big man upstairs sees and knows all!

PS: I Like your questions

Re: Serious Religion ?

allure.. we went through this in my college class last year...
the professor(who has 9 books on amazon.com), and the rabbi who visited us
.. said that the important thing is to have faith and do good will. its not enough to just show up to church or temple, and you DONT have to show up to church or temple to be religious, but to have faith, and to be good towards others...

Re: Serious Religion ?

I am not 'faithful' to my religion. I try to be the best I can be every day and good to other people, that is my religion. I dont feel that I have to go to a church to be preached at. Thats just my 2 cents.

I know this is not excatly what you asked.

Re: Serious Religion ?

I feel that depends on the definition of religion.

I am faithful to my religion.. devout.

I don't go to church, don't pray before I eat or go around blessing people left and right for acting with human kindness. I don't believe the bible is truthful or that burning it will kill my soul. I don't need someone to tell me whether i need forgiveness or not. I don't want some person to say whether my marriage or anything in my life is ok in the eyes of god. From the food i eat to the man I marry no one man on this earth has that insight. I won't dress up to walk into some place people say is holy.

I am also very conscience of my everyday actions, thoughts and reactions to the world around me. Being faithful to my religion means not judging others or their religions for any of the things I may disagree with. I means I blame god for all the wrongs in my life and thank him everyday in my mind for the chance to scre*w things up in my life. It means I am saddened by the death of nature and common courtsey. I don't just think about it on a certain day I think about it every moment.

Faith to me is lost on so many and is like a gift just out of reach for the blind. People judge me daily on my beliefs and I pity them.

Faithful to your religion is living the life that you feel is best suited to your beliefs.. completely and constantly.. not just when it suits the situtation.

Re: Serious Religion ?

As a Catholic I would have to say that I am not faithful to my religion as I do not believe in all of their teachings. I believe a lot of the teachings are way behind the times and need to be brought up to date.
