Serious....long-ish-- **UPDATE**

So, my FFIL has had problems with drugs in the past. It started when he hurt his back at work (he worked for the MTA) and became hooked on his pain meds. From there he moved onto more serious stuff.

He OD'd one night while FH and I were broken up (we broke up for a little while 3 years ago) so I'm not sure of exactly what happened, but he was forced to take a leave from work and get help. He has been clean for over a year now.

Until last week. He retired last week and went right back to the serious stuff.

He has been cracked out for a week now.

I have never seen FH this upset, he claims to 'hate' his father, but I know that he loves him.

So, the point of this is that I have Mets tickets for Thursday night's game. Or maybe I should say HAD. FH was soooooo excited. He loves the mets. However, I got the tickets from my father who got them from one of the vendors we work with. The vendors called this morning and left a message saying that they didn't mean to give us the tickets. They didn't realize that they were attached to the tickets to last weeks game (my parents went to that one).

I haven't committed to giving them back yet-- I don't think its right that they take them back, but I may have to give them up.

I called FH and I thought he was going to have a stroke. I think he was ready to cry

So, I know I can buy tickets on ebay-- not great seats but still $300 or more.

We can't really afford to throw $300 on a baseball game, but I know FH would be thrilled.

Do I buy them ? Anyone have any other (cheaper) suggestions?

HELP me make him feel better....

*** FHs uncle managed to get bleacher seats for game 1 and asked FH to go with him!!! They arent the perfect seats we did have, but at least he gets to go enjoy himself ****

If there is anyway you could come up with the money, I'd get the tickets for him. Just something to get his mind off of everything.

I hope everything works out.

well, i know you are trying to lift his spirits b/c of what is going on with his dad which is just terrible-- one day, hopefully, when his father is clean he will really regret what he did to his son b/c it's just awful...

with the game, i would say you kinda have to give the tix back-- i mean, if your dad works with them it might cause a problem if you don't give them back but see what your dad says about that-- run it by him and explain that you are really trying to lift your FH's spirits...

the other option is ebay but is it really worth it? all that money-- i mean, i know he is a big fan-- maybe take him out to eat to a nice sports place and watch the game while going out to dinner? cheaper alternative-- but you know him best and if he is really down in the dumps (if it were me, with vin) I know i would cough up the dough

hth, you are in a tuff situation, so sorry

How can they say that?!?! That they want them back?!?!? w t f ?!?!? Im so sorry, I wish I had tix, I'd give em to you... I know its a very steep price, especially around this time with wedding planning AND holidays comiing up in December...

Ask FH if he wants to spend the $ on them.. And if he REALLY does want to go so badly that he'll buy them, to see if he will sit in cr@ppy seats.. And get them as cheap as possible?
