seriously freaking out -- really long, but need advice, please

Hi,
I am a regular poster on here, and just created this account because I cannot believe I am posting this. Its really close to my wedding, and I know my shower is in the next couple of weeks, and I am starting to have serious doubts. Well, I don't know if they are serious, but they are doubts. FH is wonderful. We've been together for nearly 3 years, and have been living together and engaged for over a year. I never had a doubt before. Last week, I found out that his ex contacted him on facebook. They were together for 1 year 5 years ago. He actually left the window open on the computer while I was in the bedroom on the phone and he was doing the dishes. She wrote 'I know you wouldn't add me as a friend, so I won't even ask. Hope all is well'. He wrote back 'It would be hard to add you as a friend -- she checks'. I totally freaked out. We talked and talked, and FH said that there is nothing going on. She calls him every few months and they talk for a few minutes. He said that he can't stand talking to her but feels bad. That he wrote that because he didn't want to hurt her feelings. I went on about how it hurt my feelings, and he said he didn't mean to. He wrote her another messages immediately saying that there cannot be any contact between them anymore, that he loves me completely, and that we are getting married in two months and that she should please never contact him again.

I honestly do believe him. He hates upsetting people, and sometimes can be really dense when it comes to picking up on social cues -- he never realizes when someone is flirting with him. Usually its pretty funny.

Anyway, after all of that, we got to talking and I asked if there was anything else he needs to tell me, anything at all. We are totally honest with each other. He said no, then we thought and thought, and he said that he watches porn and jerks off sometimes. I knew that already, lol.

So then I told him something, something that I have never, ever said out loud to anyone. I told him that I used to be scared that I was a lesbian. I do enjoy watching girl/girl porn scenes. I have never been with a woman, and I really don't want to be. A lot of my friends have, and it has meant nothing to them -- they've gotten drunk and made out with girls. I never did that. I did have lesbians hit on me once or twice, but I never was interested. In a play once, years ago, I had to kiss a girl. I was scared that I'd like it, but I didn't. Eveything I've ever read leads me to believe that it is normal for women who are heterosexual to fantasize about other women. But now I'm scared that I'm a lesbian in denial. I know this sounds crazy. I love FH with all my heart, and want to marry him and have his children. I'm not very young, and have dated many guys. I never wanted to date a woman. But now I'm having doubts. Has anyone ever gone through this? Do you think this is normal cold feet?

Please don't quote me. FH goes on here too, and even though its a fake name, he'll know its me after reading all this, so I'll probably delete it soon.

But please, please, give some honest input. Anyone go through anything like this -- having doubts at the last minute?

Thank you for listening.

I can say this, I was with my ex fiance for 2 1/2 years before we broke up, I met DH after that. I still talk to my ex every now and then. YES it was an uncomfortable situation with DH but he has learned that there will always be a part of me that wants my ex to be happy and be ok. We were friends first so he will always have a place in my heart as a person who made me happy. Dh understand that and its something that not everyone can cope with or be trusting of.

As far as your doubts-if they only started when you read what he left open on the computer then maybe you and FH should speak about the trusting part-not that you dont trust him but it makes you *wonder* what if. You, yourself really need to figure it out on your own. There really isnt any advice that anyone can give you to help that.

Shortly before my wedding-of course I wondered if this was really meant to be or not, if DH was really meant to be with me forever-but when I thought about my life without him I realized that I couldnt imagine him not being the person that I wake up next to, celebrate birthdays with and spend every day with.

HTH and I hope you are able to figure out what is best for you

I think its completely normal and healthy to have fantasies about other women because they are just that-- fantasies, not reality. If you were out trying to pursue relationships with other women, then I'd think it was more of an issue.

FM me if you want to talk

He is my best friend. I love him more than anything, and can't imagine being without him. I want to grow old with him. This is just something that was in the back of my mind, that I haven't really thought about until we were coming clean about any and all secrets we may have from each other. Its something that popped up and bothered me from time to time through the years, but nothing I ever wanted to act on. I actually just got back from an appt. with my therapist. She knew about what happened last week, but this is the first I talked to her about the other stuff. She just told me that nothing I told her leads her to believe that I am a lesbian. She said I have normal thoughts and fantasies, that are very common. She said that patients that she sees that that think they are gay think about it all the time, that it affects their everyday lives, and that they are not attracted at all to their current hetero partner. That is not at all the case with FH and I. She did say that I have anxiety issues that I need to work out. I feel a little better. Thank you for the gals who responded. I'm curious though, am I the only one who has these feelings sometimes?

I think what you are going through is totally normal. Sometimes our minds have a way of making up circumstances that may or may not be real issues b/c we just want to be sure we are doing the right thing. I don't think thinking of women sexually means you are a lesbian - I mean, hey, us ladies are HOT! ;)

I haven't had any of the specific issues you are talking about but I totally understand the compulsive need to make your relationship 'perfect' before you get married. Don't over think it - I'm sure you and FH will be fine and have a wonderful life together.

Thank you ladies!
Oh, and I forgot to answer one of your questions -- when I told him, he didn't think it was a problem -- he said he thought it was totally normal too.
I feel so much better now -- having talked to my shrink, and hearing from you ladies, and spending some time just walking outside on this beautiful day, my head and anxiety has cleared.
Kruzlover, I loved your response. I think I do create anxiety for myself sometimes. Now I can go worry about wedding details again!

As far as the ex...I believe him.....As far as being a lesbian? I don't think you would be 'confused', if you truely were, you wouldn't be interested in men all that much, if at all. On the other hand.....There is nothing wrong w/being Bi....! I'll leave it at that...
