gratuities (percentage of food and beverage), right? Its a percentage of your total bill for the reception. And then divided amongst the wait staff, maitre d, bridal attendant, chef, bartenders, ect........Thats how it is where I work anyway. And then you tip extra on top of that if you can.
Tell me if Im wrong tho!!!
Ok, so I was told something different and I am having a hard time believing it. I was told that the service charge was to pay for all staffs salary and doesnt go towards any sort of gratuity. I mean in a way i guess everyone will be getting some part of it in their next pay check or whatever but I thought that that was theres to divide. I could be totally wrong tho.
Please.....any suggestions? answers?
TIA!

Re: Sevice Charge?
The maitre'd and bridal attendant's tips are not covered by the service charge but anyone else should be covered. HTH!

Re: Sevice Charge?
Service charge at my place goes to paying the wages of the staff... but not towards tips.. or the tip for the matre d or bridal attendant. For my place it was explained to me that they make better minimum wage then an ordinary waiter (waitstaff min. wage is MUCH less then reg. min wage... last I waitress-ed was just under $4 an hour) this is to compensate for what you make in tips. Anyway It was explained to me that the 'service' charge goes to a higher hourly salary and to their taxes. And where it isn't mandatory to tip extra it is nice. If you really press it your RH SHOULD explain exactly what goes where .. HTH a little
