Share, while you were vendor 'shopping'.....

Original post by jennbaby

Ok while vendor shopping, what was one thing that pis$ed you off????

Please mention what it was.

For me it was a limo company that wanted to charge me $25.00 for an aisle runner!

HA!!!!

I went to visit a hall and the guy - started with price and said if this is not your range then we should not continue and waste our time. It was a high range but you can totally tell the guy didn't think we could afford it. I was sooo PO'ed - I wanted to scream at him - DH and I probalby make 3times his salary - who is he to judge on looks (we we dressed very casually and both look young and don't drive a fancy car). We told him it was (we could afford if we wanted to but truthfully - it is not our style) and he went on but barely told us anything - didn't even show us around the grounds or rooms. Never left his office. JERK!

I also hated when I went to a photographer studio and asked about how many proofs do you get? Their answer - He slid me over a sample proof album and said count!

I went to an invitation store in Manhatten and when I told her my budget..........she started talking so down to me and started rushing me out of the store.

I hate snotty and rude people.

kptoys & janatlantica.... I know who you're talking about too! I had the same experience. Both my FH and I did not feel comfortable with them at all.

I hated that people acted like I had all the money in the world to spend on my wedding, because they thought Villa Lombardis was like 9 million a person.

I was like well i can't afford to spend money on anything else, so what's your best deal!!!

When in actuallity, I just got a good price at VIlla's and my budget was definitly limited!

I did not like when people bad mouthed 'the other guy' instead of telling me why they were good. Also one videographer completely bad mouthed the groom that went in before me which I thought was completely unproffesional.

The only experience I had so far that I didn't like was when we went to see a photographer and FH asked her a question about the processing and she responded to him as if HE was the moron because SHE couldn't understand the question and didn't know the answer!

I went to see a videographer who made fun of a groom on one of the videos he showed us. Not fun of his dancing skills or something silly, but of his physical stature. I was like Then I thought, WtF is he going to say about us if he does our video? I got up and left shortly after.

Another thing that is completely turning me off is these vendors that call and call and call. The more a vendor calls, the less likely it is that I will book them.

We went to one hall, in Weschester. The BM we met with walked us around to show us the beautiful views, too small cocktail room, the so so reception room, and the bridal suite attached to the cocktail room...then we went to talk price. No matter what day we asked for, if it was after 7:00PM it was 150 a head, out of our price range, but we threw other dates/times at him. Every date we mentioned, he would say 'I don't have to go lower than 150 a head, we can book it'. Sitting there ever so pompously he says 'I can give you Thursday July 3rd for 100 per person, if you don't think you want it, we can book it anyway'. Treated us like he was doing US the favor by showing us the place.

We picked up and left.

I went to one florist (the one we booked with) and he told me that he really did not want to make the bouquets out of gerber daisies for a July wedding because he said they would not last very long out of water. He wanted me to be happy, and not be upset on the wedding day if they wilted. Anyway, we went to another florist who said, 'Sure! We can do whatever you want!' When I told her what I had heard about gerber daisies not lasting out of water, she said 'oh no, they are a very hardy flower...'
I thought I would rather not take my chances and go with the honest guy. I mean why would her tell me that??
The other place just wanted my business no matter what!

Soon after I got engaged, 2 of my BM's and I went to a bridal show in SI, my rings was at the jewelers being sized because it was wayyyyy to big. I was looking around and a well known videographer asked who the bride was and I said 'me' he looks at my hand sans ring and said 'no ring?' I said 'yes I have a ring but its being sized' he then said 'are you really the bride or are you guys just coming for the free drinks' I was Pi$$ed.

When I went to Bridal Couture to try on dresses and one of the sales ladies said, 'this will look really great on you when you lose 10 pounds.'

Sassy - OMG, can't believe they said that!!!!

My worst was a photgrapher kept cursing at his staff while I was there and then saw I was getting married at Flowerfield and said and I quote, 'wow, you're getting married at Flowerfield. You must have money'. Needless to say I walked out.

I thought of another one, I went to book a block of rooms and the manager took us to look at the hotel rooms, and was so matter of fact that there place was the best, and how it is renovated, I turned to him and said, why does it smell musty? He said sometimes that happens!
Another place told me all I have to be concerned about that day was if I will have a good hair day!!!
Another catering hall took me into a room that was half finished with construction all over the place, I could have broken my leg, and at the same place I told him I needed kosher style ( No pork etc), he took out the menu and told me- this will **** off your jewish relatives so we will omit that, etc. My Fh and I just looked at each other and walked out!
A photogrpaher told me film prices might go up, so he could not give me a quote!

I hate when vendors would say things like 'this is a once in a lifetime event...'...I dont really need you to tell me this and that fact should not effect your price!!

Re: Share, while you were vendor 'shopping'.....

I was considering using a photographer who kept telling me he was 'The BEST' and when I asked for references he gave me names of weddings he did 2 or 3 years ago and one never even got her album - she said she was slow in ordering it (3 years seems a LITTLE too slow to me) and the third reference told me she is now a good friend of the photographer and her husband does I think legal or construction work for him so she can't say anything bad because they are friends! What??? So wierd to give me those references. Then when I went back to see him a 2nd time he once again (he did this at the first visit too) kept taking pictures of my mom and I on his digital camera to 'show us how good they turn out.'
