I know people spend a lot of money on the dress...and want to get the most out of it.
But I'm having a hard time with this. I want a gorgeous ballgown to have the cinderella ceremony...but they are so dang heavy and I just can't get down at the reception with it.
My personality screams Tight white flamenco or tango dress...fitting and trumpeting at the bottom....but would never dare in church, nor is that the look I go for in the church.
Please share with me your thoughts of doing a dress change!! TIA

I think it's great but simply can't afford a 2nd dress. Please affording the first dress is a miracle in itself!
If you can swing it Nina..do it, why not! One wedding I went to, the bride wore a beautiful ball gown for the ceremony and fo her formal pics and then changed into a fabulous white Versace female tux.

well, I look at it this way... you really have only one day in your life when its acceptable to wear the princess dress- thats your wedding day - so you might as well get as much use of it as you can. You will have many other events to wear the sexy dresses. Honestly, I think its a waste of money to have two dresses.

I wouldn't be able to afford a second dress. But I love ball gowns and glad that I can wear it all night. If I was able to afford another gown and would get two ballgowns!

I agree with LaurenluvsTJ - your wedding is only once right? So why not wear that princess gown all day that you have been dreaming abt your whole life. You have a lifetime to wear a tight, sexy gown - but only once to wear the princess
hey nina - wouldnt it be cool if you had both all in one? like you take off the puffy part of the dress - and your sexy dress was underneath it all along??

Honestly I think that even if I did have the $$$ to afford 2 dresses I would still just wear one for a few reasons: - I know that my stubborn Sicilian family would give me grief over changing into another dress lol - I wouldn't want my album to have pictures of me with 2 different dresses on - there's something special about wearing one dress throughout the entire night...it'll be the dress u walked down the aisle in, danced your first dance in, tossed your bo-k in etc... Go to ebay or a discout store/website and find that flamenco dress you are dreaming of I say go for it with something simple and white then dress it up with your jewelry

I'm all for a 2nd dress. If you feel the dress is too heavy by the time you've taken your pictures then why not change into something more slinky and sexy? It's all up to you. It's your day and your choice. You dont have to break your budget to get your 2nd dress.
I was thinking of asking the friend who is sewing my dress to make it so I can take the lower half off and wear it as nice above the knee dress for more movement after all the pic are taken.

I felt the same way and considered this dress by Maggie Sotero
I was actually considering this since I didn't get a ball gown though I've always wanted one. But I think everyone would think I was crazy.
OMG what is wrong with me caring about what people think. A bad trait I got from my mother!!!

Re: Share with me your Pros and Cons of....
Here is some advise. I do this when I catalog shop. I doggy ear the page that I see things I like. I put the magazine on my desk and if I;m still thinking about those items at the end of 1 week I buy them. That way its not an impulse buy. During that time I find places for the things I want, get rid of the things I dont.
As for your decision on a dress go through some magazines or website. Choose your top 5! Since your wedding is sometime away look at each one for a month. Look at detail, price and all and at the end of the month see which one REALLY catches your eye. This will tell you if you really want the dress or its just a passing fancy.
Hope this helps

I agree with the ball gown where you can remove the skirt and have a short, tight dress underneath. I think that would be great....Good luck!

I totally agree! It is YOUR DAY! So do what will make you happy. I'm so jealous! I wish I could afford 2 dresses! My dress is not all that heavy - did you look at Maggie Sottero?

i am gonna have to agree with Santina. This is one day when you can wear the big princess bride dress. but bottom line, i admire people that buck tradition and do what they truly want to do! If this is you, and you can afford two dresses, then dont listen to us nay sayers! Do what makes you happy! Regardless you will look beautiful!
