I know people spend a lot of money on the dress...and want to get the most out of it.
But I'm having a hard time with this. I want a gorgeous ballgown to have the cinderella ceremony...but they are so dang heavy and I just can't get down at the reception with it.
My personality screams Tight white flamenco or tango dress...fitting and trumpeting at the bottom....but would never dare in church, nor is that the look I go for in the church.
Please share with me your thoughts of doing a dress change!! TIA

I'm way to excited to wear the one dress that I bought for the day! I didn't find it all that heavy and every time I've tried it on I haven't wanted to take it off... I think it's your one day to be the star in a gorgeous ball gown and you should take advantage! I could never afford 2 dresses even if I wanted to though!

It's funny you mention not being able to boogy in the ballgown. I had one and I just got my video - and let me tell you - I had NO trouble dancing in that thing. I twirled, I even was dancing down by the floor (it looks cool in the video).
I am all for the one dress thing.

Hey Nina, I was thinking of doing something like that. I wanted to wear my ballgown for the church ceremony then change into a white tango dress for our first dance which would be the tango.Then I wanted to change back into my ballgown. I really love my ballgown but I really wanted to dance the tango which would be impossible in a ballgown. Anyway, when I took Tango lessons I really stunk and I gave up on that dream fast. Maybe I should keep the ballgown on and dance the tango, that way nobody will be able to see my legs when I mess it up. I like the idea of wearing 2 dresses here are some pros and cons. Pros: 1. Princess Nina and Sexy Nina will both be happy 2.You get to wear two fabulous dresses in one night 3.Easier to dance in a lighter dress 4. Easier to use the bathroom
Cons: 1. People who didn't go to the ceremony will never see you in the ball gown. 2. Its more expensive to have 2 dresses and you oculd use that extra money for hte honeymoon, video etc. 3. Changing may mess up your hair and make-up 4. Ballgowns are heavy 5. Depending on how much time you have for pictures you may miss out on some picture time if you decide to change.
Lastly I think you should go dress shopping and see what looks good on you. You may end up hating the ballgown look or you love the dress you choose so much that you don't want to change out of it.

Im going to wear my ballgown throughout MOST of my reception. Its the ONLY time Ill ever wear something so big and expensive that I should take advatage of that. I wont everyone to see me in it.
But since we are having a viennese hour, right before that starts,IM going to switch to a slinky white low cut halter top dress. Ill wear this dress only to viennese hour and afterparty....

well, I look at it this way... you really have only one day in your life when its acceptable to wear the princess dress- thats your wedding day - so you might as well get as much use of it as you can. You will have many other events to wear the sexy dresses. Honestly, I think its a waste of money to have two dresses.

I wanna wow everyone inn my dress at the church and there after. My mom bought it for me, and to wanna be in something else for my reception which everyone attends would be just wrong. What about the people that can't make the church, and couldn't see you in your gown? You'll make the right decision either way. Why do you do this to yourself?
I can't afford 2 dresses but I think if I could and it's what I wanted I would do it!

I think that if it's something you want, and you can afford it, then go for it. I know I personally would rather put the $$ toward something else involving the wedding. Plus, I think I'll want to wear my dress all day, since I'd been waiting so long to wear it.

Ohhh....I guess I should have said...I want to change the dress halfway through the reception.
I've seen it where half way they disappear for twenty minutes to change...and open the second half of the reception with a tango dance.....CHA CHA CHA!!!
So if I end up doing this(which who in this goofy earth knows) I would start the reception in the ball gown.

easier to get out of great photo op
Cons:
takes away time form the reception more $$ 2 dresses to bring home
but listen - if you want to cha cha, then cha cha baby

You just make me crazy sometimes . Listen, I just wanna see you in your dress. But hey....Miss Cha Cha Cha, we all know you'll look freakin hot in one of those salsa dresses.

Actually FH thought I was going to have a second dress to change in to...but then I thought I can't imagine paying all this money for a dress and only wearing for it a couple of hours

I think it comes down to this....I need to try on more dresses apparently
Maybe if I find 'the one'..I won't have this issue...
Then again...my issue just may be that I need two!! We'll see
