My fh had planned a vacation for us to Mexico however a hurricane hit a week before we were supposed to go so he switched all of our plans to Paradise Island. The second day there we went swimming with the dolphins and while we were in the water a dolphin swam over with the ring in its mouth for me!! (it was a cz - the 'real' ring was waiting out of the water) :) He proposed right then and there - and we were fortunate enough to get it on video!!

Re: Share your proposal stories
My FH had picked the ring up about 1 week before he had knee surgery (12/14/05) Well he ended up needing me to take care of him a lot longer then expected and could not wait after he saw all that I was doing for him so he kind of got down on one knee (as best he could since he just had surgery) and spilled his heart I was in tears for 2 hours!!

Re: Share your proposal stories
Since my birthday was in the middle of the week Dwayne thought it was best to wait until the Friday for us to go out and celebrate. I agreed. Dwayne was working late as usual and gets home around 8:00... Except for that Wednesday... I tried calling him several times at work, and there was no answer... I called my mom telling her how I was worried about him, and at its way passed the time he usually gets home. She reassured me that he was fine... and maybe went out to dinner with his friends and co-workers. He finally showed up around 10:00 and had no explanation of where he was... I figured he was just out getting me a b day gift... waiting for the last minute.
Finally, Friday comes and Dwayne picks me up from work and he is so cute... he had the entire night planned out.
First we went to Carmines, our favorite Italian restaurant in the city where Dwayne gave me my birthday card with tickets for the Broadway show 'Movin' Out'.
Next we went to Toy's R Us and took a ride on the ferris wheel... It was great, we sat in the Barbie Cart... I was wondering why he picked that one... but now I know. If you look in the picture there is a HUGE diamond ring behind his head... I wasn't even thinking of it... so I didn't even realize, but he did it for a CLUE! (I didn't know we were playing CSI)
Then we were off to Central Park for a horse and carriage ride... and THATS WHERE HE DID IT! It was beautiful... I was so happy... and crying... everything was perfect... except... I screamed out... OH MY GOD! DID YOU ASK MY MOM! And... Of course, that is where he was that Wednesday!!! My mom was with him... He really pulled it off!!! I couldn't believe it!
And that wasn't even it!!! Then we were off to 'Movin' Out' which was fantastic...
All and all it was a beautifully planned night... and there is no one else in the world that I would rather be with!

Re: Share your proposal stories
Well my story isn't as romantic as everyone else's stories, but It was a moment I'll never forget!
My FH bought the ring a month before he proposed. He had no plan or idea of how he wanted to propose, he just knew he wanted it to be spontaneous and a time when I least expected it, which it was! (we have been talking about marriage, so I knew he was coming, but no idea when) I am a very suspicious person too and he knows that, he knew if he took me somewhere nice, I would figure it out! LOL....plus he is in med school so it's hard to take vacation with his schedule.
He proposed on a Friday afternoon after I got home from work. He said he just decided that today was the day. Like 5 minutes after I got home from work he proposed! LOL...he was so nervous, but adorable. I was on the computer and I talking about my day at work and he placed the ring on the desk. I had no idea why he put a box on my desk...i thought maybe it was earrings or something. lol. I had NO idea!!! When I looked at him, he was tearing! He asked me to marry me. It was so cute. He was so emotion. He barely could get the words out, 'will you marry me?' It was sooo cute!!! He hardly cries!
So since he was so emotional, I can forgive him for the lame prosposal! j/k lol...he did SURPRISE me, like he wanted to! I didn't expect it at all! I didn't care how he did it anyway, I was happy he did it!!!!

Re: Share your proposal stories
Awww everyone has such nice stories.
This July, my family and I were going to Disney, my favorite place, and my FH was coming with us. Like lilpie, i am a very suspicious person, so i did have some clue. But anyway- it was 4th of July and we were in Magic Kingdom and we had reservations a Cinderellas Castle for lunch. The lady from the hotel had called that morning and said she got us reservations. Little did in know, my FH put her up to it.
So we were sitting at lunch with my whole family and i have severe food allergies, so i had to talk to the chef. He told me that he would make my food separate and he would make me something special for dessert.
So dessert comes around and the waiter comes over with a covered plate and says' The chef made you something special for dessert' So me being, well me, believed him and when i took the cover off, it was filled with flowers and in the middle was a glass slipper engraved with our names and the date that said Will you marry me? The ring was in the glass slipper. Of course my FH got down one his knee and asked. Everyone in the place was clapping and they came out with champagne for us and a dessert that had Will you marry me? written in chocolate syrup.
It was so beautiful and it was really nice that my parents were there for it.

Re: Share your proposal stories
lilpie my story is kind of like yours.
We had talked about marriage throughout our relationship but never really talked about when we would get engaged. He actually had my ring for about 2 weeks before he proposed.
We went out to dinner that night and he was going to do it a dinner, but it was so crowded and I guess he chickened out So when we got home I was laying on by bed watching Tv and he said that he had something for me. Stupid me still didn't catch on and was like 'Oh what is it?' Thinking he just bought me something b/c he does that sometimes. So he said I really have something for you, so I said again, 'OK give it to me' still not catching on then he knelt down next to my bed and I got this weird feeling and jumped up. All I remember after that was seeing a ring in his hand and saying 'are you kidding me, that's not a real ring!!' So he said 'yes it is, I want you to marry me!' So for like the next ten minutes I kept saying 'No your joking' Finally he said 'are you going to answer me' and I screamed OF COURSE! and the rest is history
It was more than I ever expected b/c Fi is not very romantic so if he planned something I would have known something was up. He totally caught me off guard and I will remember that moment forever!!

Re: Share your proposal stories
My FH proposed in the Bahamas. I did not think he'd ever bring a ring to an airport, so I did not think it was going to happen there. The entire day he was acting normal. In the morning, at the airport, when we checked in to the hotel. So I knew for sure it wasn't happening. So after dinner around 10pm he wanted to take a walk on the beach. So we are sitting on the beach just talking when he told me to close my eyes b/c he had a surprise for me. By the time I opened my eyes he was kneeling in the sand with the ring box open. And then he asked me to marry him. It was very romantic and I just remember being so surprised. I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful proposal.

Re: Share your proposal stories
I love this thread!! Unapearla we almost have the same story!! My mom gave me a trip to the Bahamas for me and FH for graduation. Our flight ended up getting delayed a day because I had a birth cert. from the hosp. not the official one. I was hysterical but he was colming me down and soooo calm himself, considering I now know what he had planned! Our 2nd night we went out to a nice dinner and got all dressed up. He had his hand in his pocket which should have tipped me off, but it didn't. After dinner we walked on the beach and I think it was supposed to happen there, but people kept walking by. So we walked over to this 2 person swing that overlooked the ocean. He pulled something out of his pocket......a letter he wrote. I figured at this point that this was why his hand was in his pocket, to hide the envelope. The end of the letter-that made me hysterically cry the whole tiem- asked will u marry me. I was in shock!! U would think I would've put the pieces together, but I didn't until he actually got down on his knee. Before we had left for dinner he had forgotten his 'watch' and ran back to the room. Turned out he was putting rose petals everywhere in the room!!! Soooo cute! I found out later that he thought the ring would go of in the metal detector at the airport, so he made me go ahead and told me he had to go to the bathroom before he could come through!!

Re: Share your proposal stories
FH had always said that when he asked me it would be just us-and it would be a surprise. He had gone to NY to help his dad out in June 04-this trip was ring shopping. The day before he left he asked me to print out the settings that I liked so that he could go see their family jeweler. Well, he came home-NO RING!!! Thats what I was told. On Christmas we had the whole family at his parents house and everyone kept asking where it was...me being clueless didnt know what the hell they were talking about. New Years Eve we went to his cousins engagement party and everyone kept asking where it was...still clueless!!! Everyone kept talking to us asking us if we were ready to get married, where would we have the wedding...etc. We met our firends at one of the bars in town-a friend of ours was the band that was playing that nite. This is why when a friend of mine had video camera, I didnt think twice about the fact that she didnt own one-I thought she was taping HIM!!! As the countdown started FH grabbed my hand from behind and starting pulling one me-aggrevated i turned around to find him on one knee smiling at me teary-eyed!!! When all was done-he told me to turn around and everyone was looking at us!!! It was great!!!
ETA:Needless to say-it WAS a surprise but it was definitely NOT just us!

Re: Share your proposal stories
You all have such nice stories....here's mine:
I had been bothering FH for many months whenever I thought a comment about the ring would fit into the conversation. He kept on ignoring my comments and not really letting on whether it would happen sooner or later, although we had already spoken about the future and knew that we wanted to get married.
So, one random night, after we went to visit my friend and her baby in the hospital (she was born the day before we got engaged), he was following me back to my house. He called me from his cell and told me to come out to his car. For a second, I thought maybe this is it but that quickly left my house as he made up this whole story about showing him where the basketball courts were at a beach near my house. He said there was a tournament there the next day and he needed to know how to get there. I totally believed him and when we got to the beach, I took in the moment that we were actually at a romantic location (he's totally not romantic) so when he said let's get out, I took him up on it. By the way, I still had no clue!!!
Anyway after about 5-6 minutes we were on our way back to the car and he made me turn around and he took a box out of his pocket and got down on one knee. My mouth just dropped and I just stared at the ring, asking if this was real and it was actually happening. Then he said yes and asked me to marry him. I will never forget the moment. It was so surreal and I was in a state of shock!!! It was a wonderful moment under the moonlight!!!

Re: Share your proposal stories
Such great stories!!
OK, all summer my FH and I were planning weekend/day trips that we never went on. The weekend before we got engaged was the first weekend trip we took all summer. I planned to go up to Cooperstown for the day and stay up by my sister for the night (she goes to school up there and had already went up for the semester).
The following Wednesday, FH called me at work and asked if I wanted to go out to Montauk this coming Sunday. Being the fact that this was one of our planned day trips and I had never been out there, I agreed. I Just thought we were taking another planned and untaken trip before the summer ends.
Sunday morning (August 28) we went out and the first thing we did was climb the ligthouse. When we got to the bottom he asked if I was hungry. By this time it was like 12:30 so I was starving and thought we were going to go back into town. He then asked if I wanted to go down to the beach. He had a suprise picnic for me! I don't know how many of you have been out to Montauk, but there is a rocky beach on each side of the lighthouse - the one on the right being more secluded because to get there you have to climb on huge boulders around the lighthouse with the ocean slamming against them. In flipflops, I reluctantly agreed to do this...Good thing though! We had lunch and dessert. He asked me to stand up after we finished (which I thought was weird) but he gave me a huge hug and kiss and told me he loved me. I just thought 'This is so nice!'. He then asked me to close my eyes and he got down on one knee and proposed. Light house in the background and the ocean in front of use. It was so romantic! I was so suprised!!

Re: Share your proposal stories
My FH moved down to NC to be with his mother for a fresh start in life.
I followed him two weeks later. The day that I was there was our anniversary for one year. He gave me a card and at the end of the card. He wrote there is one thing I want to ask you. I looked up and there was a ring box. of course I said yess.
It's still gives me goose bumbs after nine years together.
He is my knight in shinning armor even though he drives me crazy
