she is in DOGGIE HEAVEN now

Original post by Dom n Nic

i went last night with my fam to say goodbye to her and to put her to sleep.
i was crying the whole time it was so hard to handle when everyone is hugging her and crying and she is just looking at you like' whats going on' the second they brought her into the room my dad ran over to her and hugged her for so long.
i have NEVER seen my dad cry . he had to leave the office because he could not handle it.
my mom , sister ,fi and myself stayed to put her to sleep . it was the worst thing i had to go through
i love that dog sooooo much
she has been in our family for 15years
i cried my self to sleep last night.(with her doggie bed as my pillow)
i kept waking up during the night cause i thought i heard her bark or snore(she was a snorer). it is so heart breaking

im sorry this is not wedding talk but i just need to talk to people who understand what i am going through

Re: she is in DOGGIE HEAVEN now

When my family decided to put our dog down last year it was the hardest thing for me to get over. None of us could stay and watch. It wasn't until I got a new puppy did I feel happy again, but my friend sent me this little poem which see to ease some of the pain in my heart. Hope it helps.

The Rainbow Bridge:
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I cried reading your post...

I am so sorry for your loss.

My dog is 18 and I am preparing myself. He can't hold his pee anymore and last night he was crying at the bottom of the stairs because he couldn't climb them.

I am going to give him a great big right now. Thinking about losing him makes me so sad. Stay strong!

I totally understand what you are going through. My dog got hit my a car two yrs ago and died right there. It was horrible. It is like losing a family member.

I am so sorry for the loss of your pet. I totally understand how you feel. Last year we had to put our German Shepard of 15 yrs to sleep (her name was Sheena) and we were all distraught. She was definately a member of the family and it is still really difficult.
Hang in there.

On our 1st Valentine's day together, I gave FH a pet ferret named Xena. When we went to the pet store to pick her out, FH picked her up and began to kiss his face. I was like 'SOLD!'. That was 6 years ago. This summer she had pnuemonia. She could hardly breath or move. FH called me at work to ask me what we should do. I asked what the vet said, and he had suggested putting her down. I weighed everything and said if that is what is best, then I guess we should. FH burst into tears and said he knew that but had to hear it from me. I went hysterical at work. I left to go to the vet to be with him and Xena. We stayed in the room too, so I know what you mean. It was one of the worst experiences.

At the rainbow bridge web site, they also have a chat and memorial. The memorial costs money to have of the web site, but it is nice. I didn't do it personally.

I am so sorry. Lot's of hugs

ETA: if you do the memorial, a donation is made to an animal shelter.
