Hi I've never had shellac nails, is it different from UV Gel nail polish? Which is better? And can you girls recommend a good nail salons? I went to the two places I usually go to and hated the quality. Too many bubbles and just not nice enough for a wedding.

I have the Shellac and Love it! I go to Fortune in Brightwaters, they just opened one in West Islip too

gel is harder to remove and ive heard can damage your nails. i tried the shellac - its just a hardened polish. dried with a uv lamp and lasts just as long.
i went to nubest in manhasset - it was ok. prefer their hair salon. but im going to spa190 in mineola for my nails before my wedding. ive had a regular manicure from there that lasted for a week - without chipping. they're great there.

I love Shellac and Gelish. I go to Beach Nails in Long Beach. They're fast, cheap, and it lasts over two weeks.

I just bought a Groupon for a shellac manicure at the Nails by Lois Salon in the Amityville village for $14 (original price is $28). Here is the link if you are interested.
Nails by Lois also has a great reputation, I know a few girls that get their nails done there.

I had the UV gel done for my wedding, although it was beautiful and lasted for a lil more than two weeks with no chips, it ruined my nails! I had to let my nails completely grow out. I'd like to add that I am usually not a person who does anything more than a regular manicure, so maybe my nails werent used to such harshness. They did look great though!

I've had the UV Gel and the Shellac, and I don't know if it's just my personal experience but UV Gel will last me 3-4 weeks and Shellac will start peeling up at the edges after about 5-7 days.
