She's here!! Avery's Birth Story

The mild backaches/cramps seemed to be a little worse than usual. So, I tried timing the pains at 12:15 and realized they were 5-6 mins apart. I called the midwife around 1AM to alert her that I was in labor, but did not feel ready to come to the hospital. I then called my parents house to ask someone to come over, but not to rush since it may be a while. My brother said he would be over by 2AM. I took a shower and got the rest of my things ready while the contractions getting much worse. So, I called the midwife back at 2 and said cntx. were 4 mins apart and much stronger. I told her we would leave by 2:30 and see her at 3. When my brother and mom arrived at 2:15 they were surprised to see me in active labor based on my 1AM phone call saying not to rush. We got to the hospital at 3AM and I was checked in triage by the midwife. I was already 7cm and almost unable to answer their admitting ques. Within an hour I was in the LDR room and feeling pressure. I did not push right away since the urge was not overwhelming. I 'labored down' the bapby instead. By the time I could not hold back pushing my water had not yet broken. The midwife checked and the baby was right there so she broke my water. That alleviated some pressure and I was able to push her out in about 3 pushes or 3 cntx (can't remember which). I held Avery right away and helped dry her off. I was able to start nursing her a short time later. She has not stopped trying to eat since. I thank her for blessing my with only 4.5 hours of labor.
