SHINY PENNY UPDATE...

Okay so to recap - I am doing those scratch off lotto ticket favors for my eparty and I wanted to put a shiny penny in with each one. I went to the bank to get new pennies and they didnt have one. A lot of the girls here gave suggestions as to how to clean pennies so last night I gave it a shot.

I gathered my white vinegar and salt last night (with FH asking me if I was CRAZY cleaning pennies) and got started. The pennies came out cleaner but not perfect. Oh well. I guess they will have to be good enough...unless someone has another idea how to get them nice and shiny...?

Just found this on google, kind of funny...this person reccommends using taco sauce to clean pennies: http://cruftbox.com/cruft/docs/cleaningcopper.html

Some people, hahahaha!

I have heard that Taco sauce cleans pennies. I would think I AM TRULY CRAZY though if I go to Taco Bell to get tons of that sauce and then sit around cleaning pennies for my favor. Last night I felt slight crazy but I dont want to push it.

Can't you buy coins directly from the US mint online? US MINT CATALOG

I don't know if they have pennies- but you could always make a special request

Good Luck!

Do you think that is crazy getting taco sauce to clean pennies for my favors? I think it is being attentive to detail but FH might be frightened!

Go for it! I wouldn't think you were crazy! However I do know that drug stores sell copper cleaner.
