Shopping for gowns?
Any recommendations on good places to look for my dress? I went to Lillettes this weekend and reall liked them, the bridal consultant spent a lot of time with me. But did not find anything that wowed me. I am looking for a place that would have a consultant to help me out, since I know the style I want and that way they could find different dresses that fit the style. Looking to spend $2500 max (or so I hope)
Thanks!

Re: Shopping for gowns?
I got my dress at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place and found them to be incredible! They spent a lot of time with me helping me out and never being pushy!

Re: Shopping for gowns?
Do they have dresses in the 2k range at Bridal reflections? the website looks so diva, like the dresses would cost a fortune! :) I am also considering Kleinfelds, just to go and check out dresses. I know a lot of people have had bad experiences there, but I hear they have a huge selection...

Re: Shopping for gowns?
I paid $2,500 for my dress. Kleinfelds is very expensive. You need $2,000 just to walk through the door, and thats for a plain dress. What kind of dress are you looking for?

Re: Shopping for gowns?
I am looking for something fairly simple, a strapless w. a ball skirt, and (its hard to describe) a waist that comes down in a v shape in front (since I am short waisted, according to the bridal lady. Oh, the wonderful things I have discovered about myself since planning this wedding!)
I dont want tulle, so I guess satin or something similar. Some beading is OK, nothing too ornate.

Re: Shopping for gowns?
where do you live sweetie?? I went to all the places mentioned but I found my dream dress at the Bridal Plaza by Flowerama... the bridal consult. was AMAZING, never pushed me into anything and I even went there on 2 separate ocasions, BEFORE putting a deposit on the dress to try it on again.. try them out..also, if you go on knot.com, do a search of the kind of dress you are looking for, you can do a search for any of the dresses and it will show you what places have it.. That's how I found flowerama! Good Luck!

Re: Shopping for gowns?
I bought my dress from Kleinfelds and had a great experience with them. They have a huge selection and they are a little expensive. I would definitely go check them out. You'll find dresses in your price range.

Re: Shopping for gowns?
Bridal Reflections does not have many dresses at all under $2k. So, if you want a large selection, you should go elsewhere. Try Bonaventure in Garden City or Elegant Bride in Albertson.

Re: Shopping for gowns?
My dress is a ball gown from Bridal Reflections-it's a Marisa Bridals dress. I'm paying about $1600.00 and that includes all alterations. I looked at several dresses there in my prices range (up to $1500)!

Re: Shopping for gowns?
OK, well I made an appt w. Bridal reflections for next Saturday. I called Kleinfelds, but the woman on the phone was pretty rude...I am not sure if its worth the trip out there. Also think I am going to stop by RK bridal, since I work in NYC. Did any of you go shopping solo? I can hit RK after work, but dont want to look lame or anything (paranoia, I know). I figure if I find anything, I can bring mom and Maid of honor back w. me. Also, anyone have any feedback on Peggy Peters?

Re: Shopping for gowns?
I had a horrible experience at Kleinfelds. I went solo, which I guess signified to my attendant that I did not come to buy. When she realized that this was my first day out looking for a dress, she said that women should only come to Kleinfelds after having shopped around. I was so overwhelmed by the experience that I walked almost 20 blocks towards home before realizing it.The funny thing is that Davis's Bridal is supposed to be much worse, but the attendant was pleasant, they gave me shoes and a strapless bra and was very patient.

I got my dress at Wedding Salon of Manhasset. The women were very helpful and sweet. I met with the seamstress as well and she was more than happy to speak with me about my concerns. Good Luck!

Re: Shopping for gowns?
I was just at RK Bridal today, by myself, too! I really like it there- it does not have the elegant feel of a nice salon (i have also been shopping at the massapequa bridal reflections, which is a totally different experience), but there is a big selection and the attendant I had was wonderful and fun. It is a kind of laid back way to get more ideas of what you want. I saw alot of girls there by themselves, so dont worry about that! Definetly worth a swing by after work. You soung like you are looking for the same style I am looking for too. I am liking alot of Paloma Blanca dresses and have found them reasonably priced, if that helps! Happy hunting!

Re: Shopping for gowns?
I looked at Macy's in Manhassat, one of the 2 stores in Manhassat (forgot the name), bridal salon of Huntington, RK Bridal, and lastly Kleinfelds. I thought Kleinfelds was way out of my league, but I happened to make an appt on a sample sale day, and I ended up buying a dress by Reem Acra! This just happened on Sunday...I'm still so excited. It was $2500. They were REALLY nice there, and I've heard positive things from friends who have bought dresses from there. I recommend trying out sample sales...dresses are much cheaper, and you never know what you'll find!Welcome New Vendors
