Shopping for wedding gowns...suggestions?

Ok, with all the talk about good/bad places to buy dresses, I'm not sure really where the best places are to go for my gown. I'll probably hit Kleinfield's, but I want to look at a few places. Suggestions??

I would go to Kleinfelds, Bridal Salon of Manhasset, Bridal Atelier (city), Amsale. Some people have talked about Reflections in Carle Place. IMO, stay away from bridal couture... heard enough bad. Littl note- Dec 27-29, Kleinfelds is having Justina McCaffrey Trunk show. Can view all her stuff plus all Kleinfelds dresses. If you find her gowns nice, I think you get 10% off. Hope this helps!

I wouldn't recommend Bridal Reflections at all, in fact, be sure to stay away from the one in Massapequa! If you are out in Suffolk, I definitely recommend Bridal Suite in Centereach (NOT the one in Patchogue - stay away from them!). Bridal Suite was excellent!! Be sure to ask for Debbie.

If you do go with Macy's, be sure to ask about their discounts that they offer if you regsiter there!

I second the recommendation for Lillettes, I did not get my dress from them, but they were the first place that I looked and the woman there was great in helping me decide a style that I liked (had NO idea when I walked in the door). I got my dress from Bridal Reflections in Carle Place, had a great experience there with Maddy. Highly recommend them, for the experience of the store if nothing else, its very diva and beautiful inside.

I too recommend Lillette's.. I would also recommend my salon, Flowerama in Elmont..

I would nix Kleinfeld's and go to Lestan's (or is it Listan's) instead....

A good place to go if it's convenient is RK Bridal in the city. There's not as much personal attention as the smaller boutiques but there's a HUGE selection in all price ranges and they're prices are generally a good deal lower than the boutiques.

Plug for Kleinfeld's here! And see if you can get Vivian as your consultant, and if you look at headpieces use Marissa. They were both amazing.

Edited to add: Marcella, Lestan's ain't what it used to be. They are up there with Bridal Couture with nightmare stories.

I say Lilletes in Baldwin too, and RK in the city
defintely shop around and find the best place.

I end up getting my dress at this place called Kellys Kreation in Brooklyn, Never tried on the dress there but went to chat with owner and she was a doll and gave me a fantastic price.

good luck and have fun

Total shame! I grew up in that neighborhood and that is where everyone just went automatically. They have become very nasty, the service just awful, and the store itself has turned into a pigsty. The last time I was there was with my mom shopping for her gown for my sisters wedding. We pulled my mother out of there after the saleswomen, and yes I mean more than one of them, told her that she was too fat to try on their gowns and one of them said that she should shop for her gown in the Lane Bryant catalog!
