I'm looking for some advice on getting our RH per person price down. We are planning on getting married in September or October and I want to know if you have any suggestions/tricks. And anyone who planned in a short time, HOW DID YOU DO IT? I wasn't at all worried and now I'm starting to freak out!
Thank You!

Are you already booked with a place? My wedding is in Sept and I got a great deal for a Sat night.

No I haven't booked yet. We have looked at some we like, but are still looking at more this weekend. When did you book?

Re: Short booking negotiaions
I booked last July but they have 3 rooms that they use for weddings. They also have a room with a min of 75, Meadow Room, which is what we did. He threw in the choc fountain and chair covers, on a Sat night for around $73 pp plus tax and gratuity. Talk to Joe, he has been great with us. I have received so many great responses about the place.

What's the name of the RH? Sorry, I might have missed it.

Re: Short booking negotiaions
I guess the name would help. It is the Meadow Club in PJS on Route 112. I know a lot of people that have used them for different events and all pos remarks. We went for the bridal show there and the food was good.

Thanks! We're probably going to be in Nassau though (North Shore if possible). I'll take a look at it anyway, who knows!

I think No Shore is more expensive. Good luck.

Thanks! That's why I'm hoping I'll save some $$ by booking so close to the date.

Re: Short booking negotiaions
have you looked at Stewart Manor Country Club? they are in Stewart Manor in Nassau County... near New Hyde Park. I had my wedding there and got them for a STEAL booking a year in advance. i am sure they would work with you for something so much closer. they were wonderful! perfect for a medium-szed wedding... i wouldn't do more than 175 in their room.

Re: Short booking negotiaions
I would look for cancellations- there are a couple posted on here if you do a search and also sometimes the rh have cancellations listed on their websites.
Otherwise, my RH was incredibly reasonable & pretty unknown- Sans Souci in Sea Cliff- its an old mansion that overlooks hempstead bay & does one wedding at a time for up to about 170ish.

Re: Short booking negotiaions
You have a great edge- a short period of time. Most places should be willing to negotiate with you if they have the date available. You may have to push them a little. I would try the Royalton, Glen Cove Mansion, etc.

Re: Short booking negotiaions
Thanks ladies!
I actually have looked at both the Glen Cove Mansion and the Royalton (love them both, but definitely can't afford the original quote). Funny that you suggested those two. I'm from the area so I know Sans Souci (very pretty view, but several friends have had theirs there so I want to be different).
ALL of the places I've looked at have many Friday nights & Sat/Sun afternoons left, but I'm just nervous about going back to really negotiate. Do I just say 'no one else is going to take this date so you might as well give it to me for (ridiculously cheap)$ per person so the hall can make some money?' Or do I have to be more subtle.

Re: Short booking negotiaions
I think you should narrow your search down, to say, 3 halls and then really look at your bottom line--dont' necessarily look at your bottom line first. (Unless having the least expensive wedding possible is your #1 priority.) I think you should base your list on what you honestly, and genuinely like the most. Go back to each of those halls, and tell them you have it narrowed down to 3, that you really could imagine having your wedding at their facility, and ask the BM if any of the available dates would give them your lowest possible price--that price is really a factor in your overall decision. Realize, though, that if you go to the Royalton (a place that does 1 wedding at a time), they probably could NOT match or beat the price that a multi-wedding facility could give you, so try to come up with a list of apples to apple, oranges to oranges. If you love Royalton, think Glen Cove Mansion, Woodlands, etc, if you love Westbury Manor, think Woodbury County Club, Swan Club. I hope this helps!

Re: Short booking negotiaions
check the Woodlands--we got an amazing deal because we booked in march for a november wedding, and someone had cancelled so they wanted to fill the date. i didnt have to negotiate that much because they were just happy to book the date

What about the George Washington Manor?
We were given the large room on the first floor, but they lowered the minimum for us. (The banquet manager looked on their computer for the same weekend the prior year..the room wasn't booked, so they lowered the minimum for us)

I dont know if I would put it outright- I would just figure out what you want to pay & tell them- this is what our budget is per person- can you work with us- my guess is if they are not booked this close to the date they will work with you on price. Good luck!
