Girls...my wedding is 10months away and i have faced the fact that i must start gown shopping... I am not looking forward to it for many reasons...one I wish I had lost weight since the engagement..and two I hate my arms and it seems like 95% of the dresses that are out there are sleeveless!!!!
Did you guys see any dresses with sleeves when you went looking????????
I am so

OK I know what you mean. I HATE my arms and never would show them...ever! I actually got a strapless dress since it looked better on me BUT I am having a circular piece of material made to cover my arms so in pictures no one will see them. Ahhh...much better for me. I went to RK bridal in Manhattan and they had them available to try on and see. FM me if you need anymore info.

you could also get strapless with one of those pretty lacy jackets that have sleeves.

Re: short sleeve dresses...do they even exist???
When I was looking for dresses I didn't want a strapless dress. It felt like everywhere I looked that's all they showed. Well, I got a dress with cap sleeves. But, they definitely have dresses out there that have sleeves. When my sis got married she absolutely wanted a dress with sleeves. The Dress was strapless but had a long jacket that was as long as the dress. It was Beautiful!!!!! She got it at David's Bridal.
Don't worry you will find 'The One'
Good Luck!!

Honestly, looking through sites wont help you as much as actually going to the actual bridal salons!! I wasted SO much time looking through websites for gowns and BM dresses... i went into these places with all my pictures, but they didnt help much... you gotta just start trying the damn suckers on to see which style looks good on you!

Re: short sleeve dresses...do they even exist???
My dress will have cap sleeves, but lillettes in baldwin said they can put sleeves on anything there. And the long sleeve dresses could be made into short sleeves. AND..one more..the dresses with shawls could be used as the material to make the sleeves. HOpe this helps. Good luck.

Check out bridesave.com
You can check out gowns by putting in certain parameters. (ie: sleeve length, skirt type, color, etc) They helped me so much in my search for my gown. It helps give you ideas when you want to go try gowns on. My dress has long sleeves, so I fully understand the darn strapless thing.

Hey Steph...I'm the PRESIDENT of 'I HATE MY ARMS'...LOL
Looking for long sleeved dresses was one of my first posts on the boards....and I've learned the following:
If you find a dress and it has spaghetti straps, capped sleeves, 3/4, long, etc (basically anything EXCEPT halter) - the manufacturer can add sleeves...at an extra cost.
I tried on PLENTY of dresses with sleeves and w/out sleeves to get an idea and had I not gone the dressmaker route, I would not have had a problem.
So don't stress, get out there and start trying on, and leave the sleeves to the manufacturer!

I hate my arms too, but there's really not much out there that will give you coverage. My sister got married 6 yrs ago and there were lots of dresses with sort sleeves to choose from - that's what she wore. I tried some off the shoulder stuff and I felt they made me look like a linebacker, actually accentuating my broad shoulders instead of making them look understated.
I ended up with a strapless dress which comes with spaghetti straps, I'm going to have it tailored to have double beaded spaghetti straps to break up my shoulder line.
